does anyone have an iadvice on free spyware and virus scans?i think i have something in the  computer and i would like to get it out.thanks staci

|I have AVG  after years with Symantec.  I know several here have AVG.  As I recall kristen from Iceland likes it fine.  I am very pleased with it.
Just go to google and find it.  Yes free too.
Funny just as i finished this post up pops AVG to tell me I was scanned and i am virus free!

I'll try to be clear,
adaware, spybot, microsoft antispyware, etc. WILL NOT stop all spyware.
Right now, on my stinking computer, I have spyware that I CAN NOT GET RID OF! I think that the start is called antivirusgolden, but I'm not sure.
My local computer dude, says that somewhere in the far east, (can't remember the country) they are sending out spyware descised as anti spyware. 
When I delete it, it always comes back.

IT'S DRIVING ME NUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My question is, Why does someone do this? I think that the answer is because they want my money.

Don't forget Spyware Blaster, stops most spyware from installing in the first place.

I also use AVG, AdAware and SpyBot Search and Destroy.

I use Zone Alarm free firewall too.

The most important thing with all of them is to keep the "definitions" up to date. Most require manual updates on the free versions.

Steve, find out exactly what it is called and Google it and you should find ways to remove it. You may have to edit the Registry or you can go back to a previous version if you are using Windows XP.

Hi Staci, I'm using Avast anti-virus program from Alwil.
It's free and I'm very satisfied with it, at least I haven't had a single virus in my laptop over these 2 years I've been using it. It has automatic update ...

I googled it and found a site that reamoves it. It is called xoftspy V4.22.  have the other antispyware that most of you have, but it doesn't do anything with this stuff.
If I want to use it, it costs 39.95.
Any comments?
If not, I'll probably do it.
