All of these pretty flowers and lily's are killing me. Everything is ugly down here we need more rain. Thanks for letting us look.

I had some Agapanthus in my hand this week. I was all set to buy it and the woman behind the counter told me they weren't hardy here. I was really disappointed. I asked if they were bulbs or not so I wouldn't mind digging them up. She really lead me to believe they were annuals. I was really surprised because they look like they are in the daylily family. Your post reminded me just how disappointed I was. I went just looking to find what zone they were hardy to. Seems they are good from zones 7-10.  >:( Darn darn darn. I am zone 7, what was she thinking?

They are a perennial here zone 10  A little shade is good too.  By the coast, no shade needed.

Aggies are very easy to grow.  Give them water and they grow like crazy.  I have some waiting for a friend to pick up since last summer and they're still sitting on the concrete without water.  They're flowering  :D  Definitely drought tolerant  8)

Agapanthus on concrete without water = few flowers

Agapanthus with water = so many flowers

Agapanthus are not reliably hardy here in zone 8. I put mine in the greenhouse for winter. Sadly, we don't have much sun or heat for them to really bloom well.

I've got several of them. My blue ones were liars though.
They were blue the first two years and now the same plants are blooming in white..!!#$%@!

White is okay but I bought 2 blue and 2 white, now all of them have gone white on me.

Traiterous little monsters.

The vast majority of ours out here are blue - I thought the white ones were very rare and hugely expensive.

Go with that thought Tim.

Cheers,

Mike

Mine are in the shade sice they burn up here.  In full sun the blooms are much more full and striking
