Garet's Blue & Hoku Kea
« on: June 09, 2007, 05:09:36 PM »
Garet Uemura in Hawaii was wonderful to share some of his hybrids with me last year.  Here is one.  I was pleased to notice this evening that the newest bloom was open even after all of my other tropicals blooming today were closed.  The pads start out mottled & then change to a green as they mature.  The older bloom is a paler blue but still has nice color (the camera didn't pick up the right color).  Hoku Kea  is another hybrid of his & there is a bud that should open tomorrow.

Hoku Kea bloomed this morning.  The pads are highly mottled & one of the youngest pads is already starting to have a viviparous baby.  The color is a creamy white.

Day 2 of Garet's Blue.  The pads at the bottom under Garet's Blue are pads from Hoku Kea.
