My Pasos
« on: June 12, 2007, 09:53:20 AM »
I got a couple of pretty good pictures of my Peruvian Pasos on Sunday. That can be tricky since they are black and hard to photograph. :)

The mare Kay-Kay.

Gelding, J.R. My old quarter horse mare was behind him but she wouldn't cooperate for pictures.

Also, Golden boy Riley.

Yes, but you have to be careful about that.  ;D I did that last night and he dropped a dead bird in my lap. >:( ::) >:(-
Yes, always check Riley's mouth before you hug on him. ;D

Great pictures of great pets. Glad for the warning about Riley.

Here in Michigan, it is chipmunk season. The cat has brought two live ones in the house so far. They get away from her before she has a chance to present them to me. Yesterday we saw her playing with something live in the grass but we couldn't see what it was. I went out there and she had a half grown field mouse who was doing battle with her. It would stand right up on it's hind feet and defy her to get him. She would bat it and catch it and let it go. I finally managed to pick her up and bring her in the house before she had a chance to bring the mouse in.

Esther, interesting point of view. We have a stray cat here that has taken off with many of our chipmunks. Unfortunately, my daughter spent many weeks feeding the chipmunks and 'taming' them. They would eat from our hands and beg for food. Oops.

Shanna, your horses are amazing! Cute Riley, too.

Nice looking horses and Riley is sweet looking. I check my dog's and cat's mouths before letting them into the house. You never know what they are trying to bring in. We have found mice in our shoes!

They are beautiful!

I have never ridden gaited horses. I've managed to ride just about everything else but the gaited breeds have alluded me.  :(

Riley is the only dog I have that will kill things in the yard and bring them in. I'm learning to check his mouth because he can hide quite a bit in there. ;D

LeeAnne.......you really should try a gaited horse! Its a very different and much smoother ride. J.R. was the first gaited horse I had ever ridden and it was instant love. Its a side to side rocking motion with the Pasos. No bouncing at all. Its great!!

I would try one if I had opportunity but I've never had the chance. I've ridden Shetland ponies, POAs, Welsh ponies, Quarter horses, Thoroughbreds, Arabians, Morgans, Paints, Appaloosas and even a grade draft horse once but never a Paso, Tennessee Walker, Saddlebred or other gaited horse.

I started taking riding lessons again recently. Western this time. Have been riding a very smooth quarter horse mare. I had not ridden in years. Too many years. I was going to join a gym to swim but riding lessons are cheaper. I am going to learn to barrel race. I rode Western as a kid but never had opportunity to learn gaming. I like to go fast.

Too bad we're not closer and you could ride J.R. :) There really is quite a difference in the ride of a gaited horse.
Good luck with learning barrel racing. I did that some when I was young. I probably would have done it more if I hadn't had a panicking mother keeping from doing it. ;D I contemplated taking it up again when DH bought me my QH mare after we got married but just didn't get it done. Good luck with your riding lessons! :) O0

I'm looking forward to it. I'm too fat and out of shape to be jumping so I need something else to do rather than just riding around in circles.

Beautiful horse, my daughter seen the pictures and started jumping up and down.  She loves horses.
