Peony Seeding?
« on: June 12, 2007, 05:02:00 PM »
This is my first flowering peony.  Loved it and was so excited after 3 years of nothing from a rooted bulb. Now the petals have fallen off and 4 red things are growing.  could these be seed pods?  If they are what now?  8)

I didn't think peonies would bloom here in the lowlands.  Congratulations!

Yes, those are seeds but I don't know what to do with them. Seeds have never been my thing.

Yes- seed pods. I don't know what to do with them either. I have several large areas of Peonys, but they have never spread from the seeds left on them (to my knowledge, and the plants are 35+ years old). They seem to slowly spread out away from the roots.

Def do best in full sun here in zone 5.

Well then, none of that helped you at all, huh?  ;D

Not good with seeds  :(  No patience or time to wait for peek a boo growth.  Although the few seeds I've tried of other kinds of plants grow lots of white/grey fuzzy stuff before turning moosh.  lol

I have them on my Peony's too.  Hmmm, might have to try to see what happens if I gather some.  I saved petunia seeds last year from my waves....they have done really well and are blooming now.

I'm going to have to try the Peony's just to see what they will do.
