This Budd's for you.......
« on: June 14, 2007, 10:32:54 AM »
I'm told by many that the butterfly bush (Buddleia) is extremely easy to grow.  I see them everywhere and some seem to thrive on neglect.  Perhaps I gave them too much attention but every single one I have planted, some 3-4 plants, has died after a couple of years.  Additionally, I have purchased and planted the Gloriosa lily a few times and it has been a no-show....  I think of myself as an above average gardener but these two plants have always humbled me.....

Well apparently some seeds from a long-dead Buddleia found their way into a clay pot about three years ago and started growing.  The darn thing seems to be thriving in the pot.  A magic pot perhaps?.....  So a couple of years ago I also tossed in a Gloriosa lily bulb.  Some green came up last year but nothing more.  This year it's actually flowering for me.  Indeed, I think I do have a magic pot! :D:

I love Buddleias and yours loves you  @O@  Our winter chill took a few shrubs away and the remaining ones are just developing buds.  You have butterfly heaven in your garden  o(:-)

Budleia grows like a weed for me and reseed everywhere here. Interesting that you can't grow them considering your green thumb. The Gloriosa lily is very pretty.

Pretty!

They just added Buddleia to the noxious weed list here for reseeding into the wild.  :o

That doesn't surprise me. I pull them out of my gardens all the time.

Yes, I'll be needing several magic pots myself. Where do we order those again? Ohh, Tim and Mikey usually keep them all to themselves?  lol

Seriously though- very pretty!
