Pink Ribbon lilies on eBay
« on: June 15, 2007, 04:26:48 AM »
Is anyone going to bid/donate to get a PINK RIBBON water lily on eBay?  That would be such a cool & beautiful waterlily to have.  2 auctions end today & 1 more in a couple of days.  I hope that the auctions go well---the proceeds will be donated to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation  O0 O0

They were on there a few weeks ago but evidentally Kit had some racoon problems and took them off until they recovered.

At the time all three had bids but last I noticed, none did yet.

Kat and Sandy.. I'll let you two buy them for $500 each! ;)

Going to a very good cause definately.  The Susan G. Komen foundation is one that I have given to many of times!  Our Favorite Nascar Driver (Dale Jarrett) was always good about donating and raising funds for it.....

When I first saw this a few months ago I thought about bidding... that was before I saw the starting price...OUCH.

When the Nelson's introduced the Lindsey Woods several years back they charged a $20 fee over the regular lily price to donate to a cancer society in little Lindsey's name.

The Pink Ribbon lilies could sell for 3 lilies for at least $500 = $1500.

In the last 7 years the Nelsons have been able to donate over $31,000 dollars to the Texas Children's Hospital in Lindsey's Name.

I applaud the idea behind the auction but perhaps the Nelson-Woods idea would be a better model to try and raise more funds in the long term as well as have many more people be able to afford to buy the lily as well as help the charity.

Just my thoughts.

It is a gorgeous lily..I'd love to have it...but there is a limit to what I can do!  $500 is steep, way to steep for my budget for lilies..especially since I can kill one to easily  ::)

Tim, that's awesome.. didn't know that about Lindsey Woods.
Do you know where I can read about her or would you share?

It's possible that some wil come up with the money, right now it's about a donation not owning a waterlily.   Or if I had that kind of money to give to give, that is the way that I would feel.
Maybe to some it would mean bragging rights though. :(

There is a link on Sean's site about Lindsay Woods, I read it yesterday, coincidently.

If this link doesn't go there, it is plants/aquatic plants/waterlilies/tropicals/lindsay woods

I'm a member of WGI and was notified when they went up for bid. Unfortunately, with that criminal, China Marks Moth, still on the loose, I can't take any chances with a lily that expensive. Be like buying a shark a filet mignon. lol

Happy ponding,
Scott

I read an article about LW in my first ever issue of Watergardening Magazine. It's a lovely lily!
