My ladybugs arrived safe and sound yesterday (1500 for $9.99).
I released them last night; this morning I checked to find them happily muching away on the nasty amphids all around the house.

Glad they arrived in alive and well.. sure wish those Asian beetles ( ladybug look alikes) would do the same thing, we have them by the gazillions in the spring and fall the last few years.

Kinda OT but LeeAnne mentioned buying them at Home Depot, my brother bought praying mathis last year and watch them hatch out.. too cool!

Ugh, I don't like those asian beetles either. They come in droves every now and then. I remember when I first started seeing them about 5 or 6 years ago; I picked one up and said "look at the pretty orange ladybug!". Then it bit me.  How UN-ladylike!

Hirt's had the mantis eggs too! I almost ordered an egg pod but hubby said they give him the creeps.
In hindsight, I'm thinking maybe I should have.....

I'm glad your bugs made it in good shape!  I ordered plants from them on eBay and it was a disaster.  And their customer service is awful.

They shipped on July 2nd or 3rd, over a holiday AND a weekend, so the plants sat for a week in July heat with no water.  The pots were packed with weed seedlings and moss.  Some of the multicell packs were empty..making a 4 pack a 3 pack.  They used ONE piece of tape to hold closed a box that have 20 plants in it.  The box was not labeled 'perishable' in any way.  Even though UPS has a claim open on it, and I have been instructed to keep the dead and missing plants and pots, Hirts is hassling me to send them back for a refund...at my expense, o f course.

Seems like any one of these instances would be a reason to not do business with them again....  I have an excellent eBay feedback rating and now I am almost afraid to neg them lest they leave me retaliatory feedback.  So now what??

Neg them anyway. A retalitory neg won't hurt you. Make sure you are calm and factual and make it clear to everyone reading what happened. They will look even worse if they retaliate.

I saw Seedmart mentioned on their website. I have bought seeds from seedmart but nothing from Hirts. I have been pleased with the seeds.

I noticed on that website that they have bamboo seeds for the big bamboo for $4.99 + shipping. I will have to give this site a good looking over.
