can you read this?
« on: June 19, 2007, 10:00:37 AM »
Hi-
No, this isn't a trick, well, actually there is sort of a trick to it.  But I'm just kinda 'test marketing' this logo for a local band that I've been working with.

So first off, can you read what it says?

And secondly, can you find the 'trick' in the design?

thanks....
-Michael

I see Wall of Shadows.  But as far as the trick, its been too long of a day to see anything thing else.

When I look at it a second time I notice the logo does appear 3 dimensional as if it is mounted on a wall and it is casting a shadow on the wall.

we have a winner!  yeppir....that's the 'trick' to it!  It's called an ambigram...where a graphic of a word can be rotated and say the same thing, or another word altogether.

Thanks Sandye!  When I sent it to the band they all loved it, and the ambigram, so it worked out well for them.

unfortunately, upside down it says: SHADOWS do 77VM, and that just doesn't make much sense!   lol

It would make perfect sense if "SHADOWS do 77VM" was the name of their Album/CD

That reads the same backward as it does forward.  The "red rum" was a dead giveaway...you know...from "The Shining."   lol

Yeah, I hated "The Shining," too, Karen.  Which is really strange, because I'm an avid Stephen King reader.   @O@  However, that movie really gave me the creeps.   :(

The only book of his that ever gave me the creeps was "Gerald's Game."   Since she was handcuffed to a bed for 90% of the book, I actually got physically sick (dizzy and sick to my stomach) and had to force myself to finish the book.  Silly, huh?  I don't know why I didn't just quit reading it.  :D

I'm very claustrophobic and also can't stand the thought of going without water for more than a couple of hours.  Food, I can go without for a few days without worrying about it.   ::)
