N. Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In
« on: June 25, 2007, 05:58:51 PM »
Now i have transferred that song to your heads so i can clear mine.

Sorry I have not been posting any photos this year. I have had a battle with Mother Nature.

First of all its been very cold for June, the coldest on record. last night it went down to 42 F.

then I have been attacked by all sorts of creatures, big and small. before i had a chance to put my waterblaster up, I had a deer attack and they destroyed most of this years new hybrids and some of my old established plants.

Then a few weeks back, a small black bear made its way into my larger pond looking for something and wrecked most of the plants. they will come back, but it will take time.

Then there are the neighbors from the big city and their dogs. They feel that its a God given right for dogs to run loose in the country, gonna get a cattle prod, not for the dogs, for the neighbors from hell.

Nevertheless, here is one of my favorite plants, Its called Aquarius, I believe created by Patrick Nutt. Its a stunning plant.

I will try to post more, maybe one of me attacking the neighbors :)

That lilly is absolutely beautiful !  O0

Gorgeous photo. Should be on a greeting card.

Sorry about the animal troubles, I'm including the neighbors in that....

If the neighbors dogs should meet up with the black bear they will learn the value of keeping your dogs in.   Sorry about all the troubles.

That Aquarius is stunning!  OMG!  I have a serious case of lily lust now - and a stupid 60's song running amok in my head, thank you very much  {:-P;;

Troubles with 2 and 4 animals will always exist...sorry you have to be the one to take it all.

Beautiful Aquarius lily.  Now I'm getting up the nerve to spend on a blue like your Aquarius  o(:-)

alright lou, it sounds like you've got a good excuse or two. you're forgiven for not posting award winning type pics on a regular basis this year!!  ;)

i do think that sometimes the real peace we get from our ponds is learning to deal with the mishaps and frustrations. learning to accept and move on. sounds like you got more than your share of learning in this season. you know we all feel for you and we have missed your stunning shots of stunning lilies like the aquarius above!

the aquarius appears to have just a very subtle shade variation in the petals. is that the way it grows or just the light you caught it in? it really is a beauty to behold either way!

I'm speechless!   o(:-)  That's a very appropriate name for that lily.

Hey, Louis, get a few more waterblasters and just point them toward all four sides of your property...might work on the neighbors, dogs, and might even dissuade the bears a bit.   ;)

Lou,
I hope things start looking up for you.
That lily is amazing.

Looking forward to more great shots when nature and people stop harrassing you.

I am sorry to hear about your troubles. So much goes into growing and over wintering your hybrids. It must be hard to see them destroyed like that. I hope you manage to find a solution to the animal problems and that the weather picks up a bit. It's cold and miserable here too. My tropicals are still in the greenhouse and will likely stay there this summer. Aquarius is a very beautiful lily. I look forward to seeing more of your photos.

Hi Lou,

A bear?!!!Well at least there were no lions in the story, but are the next door the munchkins still a problem?  With the deer, it's always a struggle, once you think you have them at bay, then they figure out what to do yo get the lilies.  so far the trellis/bird net seems to work well for me,,,may want to ive it a shot.

Beautiful shot of Aquarius, it's one of my favorites.

Stunning!  Hope you are able to figure out a way to keep away all of the troublesome critters (including the 2 foot kind!).

Beautiful Lou!  I'm an Aquarius so love both the waterlily and the song! :)

Good Lord, you have not had a good lily year so far.

Yes, city folks turned country can sometimes not be the best of neighbors.  Shame.....

Thanks for sharing,
Bonnie

Its beautiful Louis. :) Thanks for posting.
Sorry about the animal troubles and the people/animal troubles. It must be frustrating. :(
After working EMS this last weekend at the Country Jam Festival I'm 110% convinced that humans are not the smartest species on our lovely planet. ::)

That is a very stunning lily!  Sorry to hear about your problems with animals and neighbors.  Our chainlink fence prevents problems with animals for the most part, but I have horrible neighbors so I understand your frustration.  Thanks for posting the pic!

That lily is OUTSTANDING.  Such a beautiful color.  Sorry to hear about all the things that have happened to you this year.  Its such a shame, neighbors can't have respect.  We have some like that as well.......Hope things start going better for you.  Miss seeing your photos.
