Can I cut the outer larger pads off when the lily is like really huge? My Miami is taking over the pond.

Yes I would cut all the old pads off and leave about 7 -10 of the newer leaves

Joey's right. Miami Rose is a space hog.
Sean will keep his lilies pruned back, sort of like dwarfing them by growing in small containers & keeping the pads trimmed.
