Hunting Creek Fisheries is the only breeder of midnight blue shubunkins (they originated the variation).

A few years ago the owner told me they usually only have 20,000 - 40,000 a year and usually sell out early spring (ship worldwide).  Sometimes they have some in the fall.

You might check some of your petstores.  While most, if not all, will not know what you are talking about sometimes you can get lucky and find one mixed in with the others.  That is actually how I found mine a couple years ago.  I was crushed when he passed away last spring.  He was my favorite fish and I haven't seen another one since.  I think more people should breed these, so they will be easier to find.  They really are cool looking fish.

I'm not exactly sure what makes a Midnight Shubbie but I recently bought some white and blackish/grey that were in with the general shub population.  when I saw them I kind of got excited  @O@ and pointed them out 1st.  I think I have 4 :D.  If they breed with each other what are the chances they will bear 'same as parent' color babes?

You would have to isolate them. All goldfish interbreed with each other. Wakins won't be drawn to spawn with wakins and Midnights won't be drawn to spawn with midnights.

Those midnights are very pretty.  I had to check out the website.  I just don't need anymore fish, or I would have some of them.

Ponds are like patato chips, ya just can't have one.
