I don't know if you recall last week I had found a California King Snake by the side of my house and relocated him?  Well, today I was out by the pond and doing some clean up and I looked by the edge of the pond and there was a baby Rattler on the rocks!  It was only about a foot long or so, but I'm kinda nervous about picking it up & I have no idea what I'm supposed to do with this thing.  Right now I have it trapped under a pot.

Here's a picture of it...any advice?  It's on the right side of the pond, on the rocks.
I'm broke and can't afford to pay attention, so you might have to lend me an ear.

You can't be too careful around rattlers, especially those blue ones.

I'm really glad people have a sense of humor, unlike one person I sent this to.  He's been a bit too analytical with everything lately, and I am amazed at how anal he was about this joke.  Our conversation:

Me: I found a baby Rattler in my yard...check it out [link to picture]
Him: Where is it?  I don't see it.
M: on the right side, on the rocks.
H: all I see is a lint brush.  you'll have to point out where it is.
M: a lint bru... never mind, it went over your head.
H: what went over my head?
M: it was a joke...a baby Rattler?  babies play with it?  you know, a rattle?
H: you didn't say it was a baby rattle.  if you said that I would have known.
M: then it wouldn't be a joke, would it?
H: the reason I believed it was a snake is that it's possible you would have a rattle snake in your yard.
M: (after a very, very long pause)....and a lint brush too, right?
H: whatever, good bye

I'll tell you, I got this sort of joke from someone else and I thought it was funny as H E double hockey sticks.  But this guy really takes the wind out my sail sometimes.  I'm going to be the Joke Nazi to him now: "NO MORE JOKES FOR YOU! GET OUT!"  lol

Confession time.  At first I thought it was a lint brush and I started looking closer for the snake.  Then I thought,....okay, this is BlindToo....Hmmmm.... and I suddenly got the joke realizing that was either a baby's rattler or a lint brush pretending to be a baby's rattler.....

I like that kind of humor.  Keep it up....

hehe...yeah, maybe the shape of one, but pink and blue, and by the side of a pond in a back yard?!?  What doesn't belong in this picture?  lol

What I don't get is that my analytical friend found it conceivable that I had a lint brush next to my pond, and he didn't question it.  However, he found it inconceivable that there would be a baby rattle, therefore dismissed the 'odd item' looking for the snake.

....and he knows that I'm a smart ass.   {:-P;;

Well, the last time I tried telling jokes to a group of people it didn't go over very well, sad to say.  One older lady even told me that I had a face for radio, and that kinda sucked.

I guess it's true what they say: you can't pick your family, and I'm never performing at family functions ever again!  lol lol lol

nah...you're response was nothing like the other person's.

It's one of those jokes that's a play on words, and you have to be able to sort through what you see and come to a conclusion that it was just humor.

The joke as I originally saw/heard it was presented as a box/crate with a sign that said: "Baby Rattlers".  When you looked in the box there were two baby rattles in there.  Most people got it right off the bat, but there were actually some people who wondered if the baby Rattle snakes were under the baby rattles, and one woman wondered if there was a baby near the snakes that put those toys in the box, citing how dangerous that would have been.  But she was a handsome woman...
