Being really new to ponding, I'm ignorant of a bunch of things. For example, I thought that because the pond at our new house had 2 koi in it, it was a koi pond. So I didn't understand why I was having so much trouble relating to a "purist" koi forum. Now I learn that what I really have is a garden pond with fish.

So much more relaxing.

And my ignorance resulted in my 2 koi dying over the winter, so now I have a garden pond with goldfish.

But I'm learning. When I am confidant I can keep these guys safety through the winter, I'll get a couple more koi. Not show-quality; I just like the way they look.

This is a great forum.

Hi all! Guess I found the intro post a bit late but better late than never!

My name is Marisa and my Hubby and I have our very first pond

. I live on the central coast of California. I received my first pond for my 26th birthday this last March. I have one 60 gal pond (but I am all ready buttering up my guy to get a larger one going

) I have one platinum butterfly koi, 7 feeder goldfish and 3 mosquito fish. I am sure I will flood your board with questions so if I ever become annoying please let me know!

The pictures below are of my huggy bear Eddie and our baby boy Ricky Ricardo, My self, my tiny pond (Im thinking of adding an above ground tier system...hmmm....), and last but not least my little koi Monarch. he/she is my favorite! (SHHH! don't tell the possum that lives in the field next to my house though from what iv read the fav always goes first!)

Hi my name is Dale.

I actually found this site last year while doing research on a pond I could build as an outside home for some of my turtles.
I started building it later in the season so I didn't get it fiinish and the turtles in it until late July. The turtles love it outside and there is always a rush to get the good basking areas.

They will be going out this year as soon as the water temp comes up.

PS. Do you ship your ponder T shirts to Canada?

Hello everyone..

.I'm new to this site...i found this site when i was looking around for ideas and plants for my little pond..For mothers day hubby built me 2 flower beds...one are just plants and the other he put a pond in it with some plants around it....
I had this pond in the ground 4 years ago but it all got taken away for the hurricane....yep i live in Louisiana...way down south in Louisiana...
So hubby surprised me with putting my pond back in the ground...I went hunting for plants for this pond and can't find any in the stores...so i came online looking and i came across to this site....It same like a pretty kool site with alot of info and very nice people....Can't wait to get to know some of ya'll....Everyone have a great day...hugssss

Hi! My name is Sharon. I live in Denver, Colorado, where the tornado sirens have been blaring nearly nonstop for the past 45 minutes (don't worry--I'll head to the basement if anything actually comes our way).

I have a dream--a dream of a beautiful pond in the big backyard at my house. So far, we haven't been able to make that happen as we have serious work to do out back first. For examply...regrading around the foundation of the house, and probably removing the entire surface of the yard and starting over. I can hardly wait.

Once that's done, I will have my water features: Bog garden or pond, waterfall, and who knows what else. In the meantime, I set up water container gardens every summer.

Until I get a real water garden, I hope to learn everything I can about this subject so I'll be ready to go when the time comes!

Hi, I just found your website while surfing for lotus info. I have a natural pond that I'm always tinkering with, complete with bass, turtles, and gators. I traded some water hyacinths for a lotus tuber and some water lilies in early spring and now I'm hooked on them, unforturnately so are the turtles.

I look forward to gaining some knowledge from your members and hopefully someone will come up with a turtle deterrent that is less unsightly than the wire cages I built.

Hello Everyone - Just joined the site today. I was searching for pictures to try ad identify my new pond babies and came across the site. Fairly new to the pond hobby - last year I started a 210 gal which which I call my "puddle" This year I've added plants, koi and Shubumkins. In the next few years we hope to start a much bigger pond but we are trying to learn with the small one first. Being on a learning curve I will be on the site often. I'm on a mission to find out if my 35 babies are koi or goldfish so if anyone can point me in the right direction that would be great.

Hello to all! I'm Howard and I just joined this site. Saw a mention of it in another forum I'm in. The others are Bananas.org and aquarium.com and a Washington Nationals site, WNFF.org. I have a 1,000 gallon pond with a waterfall and a 6 ft. stream, and am in nursing. Before that I was an old Army combat medic during the mid-late 60's. I use to live in NY where I went to school, but now am in Maryland to be my 89 year old Mom's 24/7 nurse and caretaker. I had an aquarium maintenance business in NY for marine and reef tanks. Now I only have a 20 long FW, I love music, reading, baseball, gardening (especially tropicals and semi-tropicals here in sunny Maryland), politics and food!
