Hello to all,
New here, not so new on Koi forums or working with Koi, but just a not so frequent poster. I work with Koi daily so by the time I get home, I crash, take care of my fish and retire. I have visited various other site and find the posts to either be lame or not so educational...I also miss seeing posts by old friends and I hear that they are now.
What brought me to Koi is therapy, I worked in the film industry and the hours were long & tedious. Where I lived, there was a small pond with goldfish. I happen to visit a local fish store and they had "colored goldfish", little did I know; they were Koi, I purchased a few of these most interesting fish and when all were at the water surface, little did I know that they were starving for oxygen and not just beign friendly fish saying hello to me... ! There was an extra on one of the films I was working on for Francis Coppola, this was in SF and this man helped me as he was a "re-known" Koi hobbyist at time. This was back in 1979-1980 and I have never looked back. I quit the film industry and now take care of the fish of the film industry, producers/directors & actors-stars need me more than I need them now and my business is going on its 25th year. Of course, I know little, it is all based on experience and there is no book out there that can confirm or deny that what I know and am doing is right...for some bizarre reason, my fish/goldfish of 30 yrs ago are still alive and most of my clients are able to watch their fish evolve over many many years. I guess I'm not screwing up too much anymore.
I am one of the lucky ones, my hobby is my job - never considered it a job so it makes waking up in the morning that more enjoyable.
Happy to be here with all of you.
