those are truly impressive Paul!  O0

i've heard of them before but not really familiar with them. i love trees that have that 'one big bloom' look to them. i did a google and they seem to do great in my area. i think i will have to check into getting one next year.

do they shed much?

I love crape myrtles.  My city has planted many in the park areas and along street divider/planters to replace old and diseased cherry trees.  The trees are beautiful in full bloom and the flowers do make a mess but worth it.  A tree lined street makes quite a statement especially in the suburbs.

They have colors and variations in Hawaii that I have not found anywhere else...yellow, burnt orange and all of the other colors. Of course over there they get 40 feet tall and are spectacular.

Lots in so cal, can look superb when it has multiple trunks.  They are in bloom now.

I like the cute one in the middle best!
