A bright spot in a rainy week
« on: August 23, 2007, 06:05:55 PM »
Aside from the rain, the hornet sting to two toes and the top of my foot, the rain, the heat, the rain, the humidity, the rain, the loss of electricity, the rain, 2 days of benydral and ice to my foot, the rain.... there was a short bright spot in this weeks vacation.  My Carolina Queen opened and I was able to see it because I was home and the rain stopped for a few hrs and the sun came out.  Today rained more and it didn't open.  Here are some pics from yesterday.  This is a big lotus, I had to get on a chair to get the one shot, next year maybe a lotus pond for this one, even DH agrees.

a few hrs later opened more

That is certainly a beautiful blossom. Glad you had something to bright the week.

Ouch, that has to hurt.  I know the wasp stings x2 I got on my inner thighs sure hurt.  Hope your foot/toes feel better soon.

That is one beautiful Lotus, she just seems to glow.  I bet that was a bright spot in your week.

Isn't this weather so wacky any more.  So many places flooding, like you all have too much rain.  We've barely had 4 inches since spring, we're still in a drought.  So hot and humid that its like walking out into a soup pot.

Kim

Ponds are like patato chips, ya just can't have one.

All that beautiful lotus from a small barrel!?!?  I wish I had some luck like that  >:(

If my DH said "we need a lotus pond" I'd be the first one digging  :D

Hope you feel better real soon and the wacky weather behaves!

Wow that's a beauty. You got some great photos. It does need a pond for sure. Glad you got the break in the weather to enjoy it.

this lotus did not bloom for me last year in the main pond so I did as Joyce said with this and all my others and they are all doing great this year.  Sadly this was the only day it opened due to the rain I'm sure, petals are gone now but there is another bud on it's way up.  The foot still itches and is a bit red, but the swelling is gone.  I have never reacted to a yellowjacket sting like this before.  Another day of rain, I wish it was in my power to send it elsewhere.
