@O@Wow Marla, that's the first shots I'v seen of the finished new addition. It looks wonderful!!!! And you were so worried about it while doing it. It all looks so good.  O0
Thanks Debbie, as you say it is a work in progress yet.  Will have to put in better filtration IF we put in fish, this year I spied a baby koi and goldfish in it, must have gotten in through the overflow as eggs, to bad the heron got them >:(-.

Barb, isn't it fun finding new fish!   Very lush looking I hate when plants over take, yet I hate killing them, we need to move the peach tree and maple tree by the new lily pond, was not thinking when planning, more shade, and leaf drop, (even peachs drop in the pond) then I had anticipated.  DH says he might move the peach tree, but would rather just cut down the maple, I hate killing it we just transplanted it there recently and it is such a nice straight tree, I'm sure he'll win out, we have plenty more maples in the woods we could plant.

Nice in ground pond, Vickie.  How are the sides of your pond built?  I'm planning a new pond and you're giving me lots of ideas.

One of ten ponds?!?!?  We need pictures of the other nine!  :)

Thanks. That pond is only about 15 inches deep. It is for tropical water lilies.. There was tree roots so we made a frame out of boards and set on the ground. So the boards are probably about 10 inches deep. Then we dug down.  We made a planter boxe at the south end of the pond. I also made planter boxes at each corner for water iris. Then we put liner in it and put dirt up to edges of the boards. Then river rock.

The best part about the ponds listed here is that every one of them is different. They reflect the owners taste. Very well done everyone.

After the move, my pond got reduced by one trough. The 4x6' trough was rotted so bad that it fell apart. I will salvage the liner and top rail from it.

Happy ponding,

Your "pups" are amazing! Wow! I'm green. How big is the pond and how many "pups"? I tried to count them, but there were so many.
Dianne,

If you're asking me how big is our pond and how many fish we have ? The answer is as follows crazyfishlady...
The pond is about 2500 gallons and not sure of the fish? Here's a guesstimate -- 10 fully grown koi
about 6 young koi (offspring of our grown koi) 3 golden orfes and two grown goldfish a maybe
2 small goldfish  :)
The orange koi on the left is our first Koi. His name is Sunny, and he's 10 years old.
He's hand tame and allows you to tickle him under his chin.

All our fish love to be photographed and willingly pose and smile for me!  o(:-)

Joanne,
My pond is only six months old and my Koi are babies, if they can grow up to be that gorgeous I will be so happy. I think my pond is about that size, so hopefully. I'm leaving the kids in the pond for the winter, but I worry because we go to Texas for 2 months, just have to hope the bubbler will keep the ice open.
My kids come around anytime we get near the pond so maybe someday I can train them too. o(:-)

Diane, when we go away , we make a schedule and have neighbors, friends,
and family come over to check on the pond and the kids. If anything is wrong they know to
call one of our sons to come over. So far we have never had an incident, but it's comforting to know
the kids are looked after, while we're away.
Your kids will grow up to be beautiful with lots of TLC!

Joann, Your and Cliffs pond looks better than ever...!!

My pond is not worthy of this thread, simply because it's covered in leaves. Oddly enough it looks great. It's the middle of November and we still have tropicals blooming here in Northern Illinois. :D Go figure!

This weekend we plan on cleaning out the pond and winterizing.  >:( We've been very lucky- it is finally time. Had a lot of predators this year. :(

I loved seeing all the pictures in this thread... so many beautiful ponds!

Everyone has such beautiful ponds!  I truly enjoyed visiting everyone's ponds here!

My pond is 13'x10' tapering down to a maximum depth of about three feet ...maybe a little less because I rarely keep it full-to-the-top after I caught sight of mone of my koi jumping across the rocks at the water's edge.

Here it is this summer:

Thank you for the compliment.  Getting a manmade pond to "look" natural is quite difficult but in truth is a labor of love.

Thanks Happyoutsidegirl,

With the new liner in place we have been thrilled to see the water level increase by 40%!  Once the pond is finished you will see a number of design changes.  For one, the water return will be in the form of a faux "spring" groggling up over surface in the rear of the pond.  A few years back we tested a simular "spring" return design for awhile but later moved the return to the beautiful but very problematic stream. In the new setup the stream becomes a dry creek bed.

We can't wait to get the "new" Cypress Point Pond completed!
