This pic taken just a few weeks ago.  It looks very similar to the American version, although I am unsure whether or not it is male or female
When you see them up close they are indeed a very pretty bird
This could well be a more winter garb

Nice Shot of your finch.  In my backyard we have the American gold finch.  They have beautiful bright yellow feathers on the body.

BTW American Goldfinch is not my photo.  But I'm sure it's similar to the ones that fly around here.  Most of the people here call them California goldfinch.  If there is a difference I can't see it close enough to know better

whis4ey, what a lovely finch.  I love the red face.  The goldfinches here turn a drab olive color in winter and in March the turn their lovely yellow, the males being brighter and more black also, The one miguynmkoi has posted is a male.

Just interesting because the Goldfinch is the Washington state bird.
