I responded to Kaz on her blog. Hopefully Jerry, MikeW, Annette or other locals will be able to meet up with her. Anyone able to meet Kaz? I forget the day she is supposed to dock in L.A. but I'm sure she will respond with the date. Here is what I wrote in her blog:

Hi Kaz. It’s great to follow your adventures. I believe your ship will be docking in San Pedro (Port of L.A.). San Pedro is about 30 minutes from me and Santa Monica is not that far from me, perhaps a 45-60 minute drive, depending on traffic. I have lived here in SoCal my entire life and have never visited Venice Beach….. LOL.. Perhaps I can get together with MikeW, Jerry or others from American Ponders and meet you on the shopping tour of the promenade in Santa Monica. I’ve never been there either….

I believe you posted an itinerary somewhere here so I will go back and look to see the day you come to L.A. and I will contact other to see if they can make it. Jerry’s very involved with acting and hopefully he doesn’t have a gig that day and MikeW works and may or may not be able to get away.

Thanks Mike! You've never been to Santa Monica!?! Yes, been there many, many times just for fun. Lots of great English pubs there - love fish 'n' chips and Guinness, and their Farmers Market is the bomb on Wednesdays.

I'll check out her site.

Oh my word. That is a cruise and a half. I didn't realize how long it would take. I'm not sure I would like one that long.

I heard on the news about her ship and two others tied up by the Statue of Liberty. It had never happened before.
They were Queen Elizabeth, Queen Victoria, and Queen Mary. I found a picture online of them at night.

If you look closely, you can see Kaz waving from the deck. LOL

I will be there.
This rain (as needed as it is) should have passd on by then, and we can give Kaz the sitting outside in winter, working on our tans, experience.

Venice Beach is a kick on weekends, but a Wednesday, in winter, might be a little underwhelming. Santa Monica is always festive though.

I've been to Santa Monica but not the Venice Beach area or the promenade. Kaz's last response on her blog seemed like she was interested in us picking her up at the ship and she discussed canceling her Venice Beach excursion. She said she would let us know as she got closer. She was in Aruba the other day. I'm glad she didn't disappear......

How exciting. If I were in Cat City I'd drive over to go too. Darn. I took a friend to lunch on the Queen Mary a couple years ago. It was nice. We kind of walked around and followed a tour even though we didn't pay

They didn't seem to notice and we saw most of the ship.

I was sad that they were on the opposite coast of Mexico from where I am.

I believe Annette and I are going to car-pool to San Pedro. It sounds thus far that we would pick up Kaz and take her to the QM for lunch or Brunch. I went on-line and the QM has a "Promenade Cafe". They open for breakfast so depending on what time the ship comes in can determine if we have breakfast, lunch or brunch

Jerry & MikeW: Are you guys going to meet somewhere and carpool to meet the ship? We could all meet her at the ship and then go to the QM or wherever Kaz wants.

They are open from 8-3:30. I believe there is a small admission and also parking fee. I graduated from there but never have visited the garden. I seem to recall MikeW taking someone there once. Was it worth the visit Mike?
