There are some really amazing new Heucheras out there!

I think my favorite is 'Midnight Rose'...

I got MR last summer and it is just as striking in person!

I've got several new ones this year, including 'Southern Comfort'...

and a close cousin, Tiarella 'Mystic Mist'...

spring coloration

fall coloration

I will also have 'Tiramisu' and 'Miracle', which were mentioned in the article.  It is unbelievable what the hybridizers have accomplished!

Those are beautiful Josh!

Most of my gardens are full sun but I'm hoping to add a shade garden this summer to grow more plants.

Most Heucheras do fairly well in the sun.  The light colored ones need the most shade.  I've actually heard people having more trouble trying to grow them in too much shade.

Thanks Josh, that's good to hear.
I planted a couple varieties last year which said they could be planted in Sun.
Looking forward to trying some more new ones.

Josh those are beautiful heucheras!  I like the Mystic Mist.

Last week I went to Rodgers Garden (local foo-foo garden/nursery) and bought a Amethyst Myst Heuchera, but only because I was able to get a discounted one for $3 (nothing goes for less than $9 in a gallon pot).  I think this is a very popular color here as it looks like the ones I already have in the garden.  Love the foliage color and the coral bells and the fact that it can handle some sun.

also a heucheras nut here!  I have several varities.. most in part shade/part sun but last year I bought carmel and put her in about 6 huors of full sun and she grow and got so big then all of a sudden she died.. I tried to move her when I noticed the wilt but it was to late.  I am not sure if it was sun or if the pesky moles got to her.
I also had tried stoplight from parks and it was almost DOA and didnt make it :(

I also love them. I have about thirty different cultivars including Tiarellas , I think. I need to photograph them all.

I do have Midnight Rose for sure.

Terra Nova nursery is headquartered here and Dan Heins hybridizes tons of them.

Andy all the varieties I have are perinial here in zone 4, there may be some that are less cold sensitive, but there always seems to be a few of every plant that I can't grow.

A perennial, but you may have trouble with the summer heat and humidity.  A lot of the new hybrids are hybrids of Heuchera villosa, which is more adapted to southern climates.

Nope, I meant southern climates.  Heucheras tolerate cold better than extreme heat.  The H. villosa hybrids are more heat tolerant.

Bonnie, this is only our second year with the full blown online store.  The Heucheras will be grown in quart pots.

Gosh, I feel like I've hijacked this thread...sorry!

Tink...once your order is placed and payed, the plants are reserved for you.  I've still got a good supply of Heucheras, so it isn't urgent...but I would encourage you to not wait until spring gets here, as the selection may be slimmer.

I'm sure everyone else feels the same as I do and appreciate your comments, etc.

You didn't mention having plants for sale, I did! (even though you should have mentioned it)

You have good prices and it's always nice to purchase from a forum member when we can! O0
