Author Topic: My Treatment, The Dr. says We need to be on top of it. (Read 4415 times)

I may be off base posting this, but I have commented and keep sending the same responses to many. So here it is. I will start with TODAY! I have "PVC" which stands for "Premature ventricular Contractions" The 24 hour Monitor I wore reveals the there are Atrial Fibrillation(sp) mixed in. They can lead to clots and strokes.
The Cardiologist says, "We won't let that happen."I get a 4 hour Thallium test tomorrow. Also starting on a blood thinner this eve to prevent clots etc.
My symptoms are loss of energy and anxiety.
I had an EKG just a week before this incident. It was excellent. My last treadmill I was in the top 20% for my age group. I was doing 10 miles, 5 days a week on the bike!

I am in good hands.

As Joyce can tell you one can get scared as hell. :'(

Jerry I don't think anyone would think your post would be offbase... we all care about you!

First very glad to hear that you are in good hands but hang in there everything will be fine.
My Sister was diagnosed with this several years ago and luckily is A-okay.

Good News Jerry, my BIL had the same thing and he also is doing fine--(and not in as good a shape as you!) Thanks for posting and letting all of us know about your tests and outcomes. I know easier said than done, but take a deep breath and relax, you are in good hands. Sending hugs and prayers your way

I'm so glad to hear that you are on top of it and that you can do something about it. I know how scary it can be when something is going on with your body and you don't know. i'm currently waiting for some test results too and sometimes i think the waiting is the worst part.

Sorry to hear this Jerry, I know how scary it can be.

My husband was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation when he was 40 years old. He had a history of heart disease in his family, so it was quite a scare. That was 15 years ago and he does great. He takes two pills a day. At first they put him on blood thinners too, because of clots, but he wasn't on them very long at all. It is such a pain getting the blood thinners adjusted. Every now and then (like every 3 or 4 years) he will have a little "spell" and they usually up his medicine to get him through it. We have found that stress definately brings his on, like when his best friend had a stroke, when he was in a vehicle accident, etc. I have never heard of the PVC, hope that doesn't complicate matters too much.

I'm sure you have the best of doctors.

It's hell getting old.

Jerry, I'm glad they're doing more tests and putting you on the blood thinner. I'm sure they will be able to fix you up if you just cooperate and take all your meds.

You just be a good boy and do what the Dr.'s tell you to do.

The PVC is the easy one. Yes Esther I am too big a coward not to seek treatment promptly!
The blood thinner will be stopped once we get back to normal.
I will know more tomorrow. The Radio Active IV and tests will take 4 hours!
I am taking a CD and a book!

LeeAnne is so right about men not seeing the doctor when they need to go. I basically have to to do all the work including driving my DH before he does go and then if there are meds to be taken...force feed

My babies were easier when it came to taking medicine.

It's not smarts, it's cause I am chicken!
Had the big test today. A radio active I.V. so pictures can be taken. .(Thallium Test)
Now I must wait 'til Tuesday for more info. The waiting is hard.

When I get over this so help me I will be a Spartan!
They said i can do what I want, but I sure poop out going upstairs. Back to feeling comfortable in a minute or two.

The Radio active stuff affects one for 4 minutes. I was sure Id pass out. I did not. The Dr. said if you do you are already laying down!
I asked how the old ladies that were there handled it. he said, "Better than you!"

He said i can do anything I want, That is encouraging, but I am not about to walk more than a 100 yards. I start puffing!
I will do a student film tomorrow. They will chauffeur me from the parking lot to the site.
