Gardener's Tool Belt
« on: April 06, 2008, 05:42:46 PM »
About once a year, I offer free gardening advice on a subject not asked about.  Here is the latest, which if taken to heart, will make your gardening life easier.  When I go out to the yard, I grab the belt, put it on, and am ready for anything.  Well, almost.

Supplies needed:
A heavy duty leather belt
A leather punch
rivets
tools
Holsters for tools

Good idea.

I have tried gardening aprons before but the tools fell out. I hate running back and forth to the shed to get something.....

You said it LeeAnne, the story of my life!  I like an apron too, but it won't hold the tools.
Johns has it right!

I keep a small plastic basket in the backyard in which I keep many of the tools shown on your tool belt.  Many times I plop myself down to work somewhere and then have to unplop myself and head for the "tool basket" to get what I need.  Good exercise but not very efficient for gardening....

I look forward to you next unsolicited piece of gardening advice....  O0

Just a note of explanation:

The small black circular object second from the right is a spring loaded key holder (remember Schneider from "One Day at a time" [1975] God, Valerie Bertinelli STILL looks GOOD!).  Because of the advent of crime everywhere, When I go to the yard, I keep the doors locked, as well as all my outlying buildings being padlocked, so my key chain goes on the "Schneider" key chain for easy access at all times. Available at all Home Depots.

Y'all be careful out there, y'hear?

What a neat idea, Johns! I'll have to make this. I'm notorious for misplacing stuff in the garden.

I know what you mean about crime. I was just reading about thieves who are targeting gardeners. When they see people out working in the yard, they sneak around looking for unlocked doors. In another scam, one person distracts the gardener with offers of garden help while the other person sneaks in the back door. The author recommended locking all doors when gardening.

Valerie was gorgeous before she lost weight and now she is stunning. She is a year older than I am but dang it, looks twenty years younger. (Schneider was hilarious)

All of you younger folks out there, please wear sunscreen! and ladies wear a good bra and take off your make up at night and wear brands that are good to your skin.

I did not listen to this advice by my mother and grandmothers and I look much older than I am even without the grey hair. My skin is trashed from growing up in Arizona and not using sunscreen or moisturizer or taking off my make up.

Sorry, got off topic.

I've thought of trying a man's tool belt before but never got around to it. I have used a bucket and have put a mailbox out in the yard to stash tools in but still end up running back and forth and then I get distracted and don't finish what I started. I garden in heavy sweats most of the time because I find jeans uncomfortable when doing a lot of bending and squatting and they don't have much in the way of pockets. I really like this idea....
