What we did today.......
« on: April 14, 2008, 08:45:06 PM »
Today was a busy day.  We made and planted a shade garden last year (about 30ft long)....lots of various hostas etc....finished about 2 weeks prior to our flood. None made it. Nothing.  I think they were just too new to survive the flood.  So amended our clay soil today in that bed....ready to start over, replant again this spring.  Would like a rock border around it, but ran out of rock.  Will work on that later this year.  After we go rock hunting.

Put down rock and made a walkway from deck to fence. A spot that is always muddy. I'll be happy when the grass grows back around the rock, and track less mud inside this year!

And made two new beds in front of our fence w/rock border.  Goes from almost full sun to full shade.  Need to add some more compost, then ready to buy and plant this year!  This one is about 40+ feet long.

Now -- need to find some side jobs so I can afford to fill the beds in  :)

Sounds like a busy day Double S!  (8:-)
Well, when I pack up the banana pup for you, I'll throw some hostas in too to make sure the box is packed firmly. ;)
Peace to all  ... Joyce

Wow, sounds like you've gotten a lot done.  Have fun shopping for plants as that seems to be a fun reward for all the hard work.   O0 O0

Joyce, I don't know where you get your energy  :)

I get it by putting my energy where it belongs.
Cancer definitely straightened out my priorities! :o
No more wasting energy on stuff that'll never change.
Gardening is my solace in life.

And gardening does all that for me!  @O@

Tell me Double S and Kat, after a grueling day in the garden, no matter how tired you are, isn't it an 'awesome exhaustion'?  :)
Peace to all  ... Joyce

Joyce you've made a remarkable recovery from your cancer & it is so wonderful to see you happy & energetic towards those things that make your life positive.  It shows in your pictures the love of your gardening & family.  Yes, I get great satisfaction from beautiful flowers & knowing my hard work is rewarded with blooms  :)  I even saw some butterflies yesterday attracted to some of the flowers I planted.  Time to go back to Lowe's to see if they have any more clearance plants  :D
