As I was backing out of my driveway at 3:30 pm one of my boys pops his head out the front door. Mom phone, its ringing in his hand. I was already in the road in front of my house. He said it says L&N Credit Union, still ringing in his hand. He didn't answer it. I'm thinking what its still today, not the end of the week. So, I threw my truck in park and put on the flashers and ran up to the door. Hit talk and no one was there.
Went inside the house and there was a message. I looked at the clock and said who cares if I'm late to Walmart. Called her back and she was away from the desk. Dang I said, left her a message for her to call back or call my cell phone. She did call back and this time my other son answered the phone and told her I had left for work, and she could call me on my cell. Normally I don't talk and drive, but when that phone rang, had to answer it. I listened to her, and she said...that she would like to offer me the position if I was still interested. I said, oh YES I am. She started throwing dates at me, when I would start. When I can take my drug test. I politely asked her if she minded waiting one minute while I turned off Dixie Highway and into the parking lot so I could write it down. She said no, I don't mind.
This was at 3:45 and I clock in at Walmart at 4:00. I was on cloud nine when I walked in. I stopped the human resources guy and told him that I needed to speak to him. He said he couldn't right now, he was heading off some where. I told him again, I need to speak to you he said today I said yes. He then asked what it was about, and I said I'm giving my notice. He said Nooooooooo, I said oh but yesssssss. He was suppose to call me in the office before he left and he never did. Told me to write it down and drop it in his lock box. What a way to do things.
I told my dept manager that I was giving my two weeks notice (think its going to be just a little bit less), she said I figured you would. She said there hiring some one. I said its a little two late. The lady that has been off for almost 3 months called and is going to be off another 2 months. When they knew she had brest cancer and had surgery and was going to have radiation treatments and said she was going to be out. They should have gotten a temp then. Marie and myself are wore out with all the hours. I miss my kids and have another job and Marie is 79 years old. I said can you blame me for bettering myself. She didn't say anything, but gave me a verbal list of stuff to do. Half of the stuff she wanted me to do I didn't have a clue on, no one had ever shown me much of anything. I've learned on my own. Needless to say, I didn't get much of it done. What are they going to do, fire me...
Now that I have told you all my day, YES YES YES YES I got the job!
