I just got home from having a cancerous mole removed that was beginning to spread. I'll be sitting funny for a few days, it was removed from the bottom of my bottom

I go back in two weeks for the biopsy results and to have the stitches removed.

I'm praying that they got all of it...... the cancer I mean....not your butt.....

I noticed a mole on the back of my calf that I don't recall seeing there so I'm keeping an eye on it....

That must be a true Pain In The Azz.

But really, feel better.

Last summer I had a suspicious mole removed off my right shoulder/chest area, same side I had the radiation on.
It went from a pink speck to a pea sized reddish brown uneven bump in <2 months.

My MDs were very nervous because it was in the radiated area, and radiation can cause cancer.
So they basically melon-balled it out...I insisted on local since I went under anesthesia so many times already.
Took 10 minutes...MAYbe. (he also took an uncancerous bump off my shin 2 minutes later)
Then the biospy results came back on my shoulder: precancerous, so they went back and opened it up again and took a nice big chunk out,
so I have a scar that matches the other side where my life port was for chemo.

All is well now...and the moral of the story is... Sean, you'll be OK too.

Scary as all heck (and the waiting SUCKS) and what's that word the MDs use when it's gonna hurt like hell....yeah...
UNCOMFORTABLE.

You just wont be able to play Naked Twister for a while.

How do you sit?

Did they give you one of those special cushions?

I have had cancer removed on my arm and pre cancer on my face. You did the right thing never let it go. I go every year to the skin doctor and show him every bump I have. LOL Here is wishing you a good recovery.

Good for you Sean for getting that checked. I'll keep good thoughts for your biopsy. I have Melanoma and it's not fun. Anyone that has a new mole or a changed "spot" should absolutely have it checked. I was told for 2 yrs that mine was an age spot and not to worry. Thank God my insurance changed and that doc didn't take it. My new Derm was all over that "spot" the minute she saw it. It amazes me that one Doc would say don't worry and another knew immediately what it was. Another thing I learned was sunscreen doesn't protect you from Melanoma. The only protection is stay out of the mid day sun. I bought a spf swim shirt at target this season for $11 (in the boys dept

). It will be great when I work in the pond or when I take that rare trip to the beach. They are not even sure Melanoma is caused by sun but in my case I'd rather be safe than sorry. Sean, not to be nosey but, do you already know what kind of skin cancer it is? Other that Melanoma, the others are just a pain. Actually Melanoma is a pain too

Good luck, and it will all be OK. Get those spots checked!!!!

Glad you got it taken care of.

I had a basal cell carcinoma removed from my eye area in 1999. My PCP had no idea what it was but I insisted on a referral to a dermatologist and he knew what it was right away.

Thanks for all the support everyone!

I am back to work tonight as I am feeling better and walking fine now. One of the stitches came out on it's own but the wound is still properly approximated so I am leaving it be. One more week before I get the stitches out and if it was malignant, I am sure I would have heard back from my Dermatologist by now. I find out the official biopsy results when I go to have the stitches out.

It's the waiting that can be almost the worst part eh.

So any chance of getting together for a bit in a couple weekends (May 10th weekend) You are probably working lots to make up for the time off from your surgery I bet.
