Tried in vain to buy the "Carpet Stick".

The commercial is great, aren't they all?  I went to many of the store they claim carry the product. No luck, but used lots of gas!

it's made by Woolite. It impregnats the carpet with cleaning agents.  It dries, then you vacuum it.
As I said, the commercial is super.
Take a look.

I'm skeptical. If all you do is spray this stuff on, then wait till it dries and vacuum, what kind of poisonous residue does it leave on you carpet?
I dunno... I think it's almost impossible to really clean carpet (split infinitive!  :)).

Jerry, in our automotive industry we have been using a product on the interior of our vehicles called Folex, we have been using it for over 15 years. It is the best carpet cleaner we have ever used, over the years some of our guys have brought back to the shop every different kind of substance/product you can imagine, just to try something new. In the end they all go back to Folex, we used to have to order it from our nut/bolt/chemical rep, but now the local hardware stores carry it. If you get a chance, give it a try (my wife now swears by it), here is a link:

We are also Folex fans!  We use it on the small and over-used carpeting in our RV.  We also used to use it on our big house in Marin, it's amazing stuff.  I used to buy it from a detailer in Marin and then we started being able to get it in the stores.  We always have at least one or two bottles on board when we head across the border.

I'm not sure I would trust something that wasn't rinsed and pulled out after being applied.

At the Marin house, we used to mix it up in a garden sprayer and spray the whole room.  I think we put it in a carpet shampooer one time as well.

Did you guys click on the video?  I saw it on TV and was impressed.
I want to do something on the high traffic areas as well as a few stains.
If it is half as good as the video I would be pleased.

Yes it works well for the immediate time but what happens after it is walked on for a couple of months. Is the leftover residue going to attract crud and make a bigger mess? I don't understand how cleaning the surface and it looks clean but where did the dirt and soap chemical go?? Ask a professional and they'll tell you it needs to be rinsed not just shoved down in the carpet where it lays in wait to leach back up the fibers of the carpet when it is humid.

Just to clarify, when we use folex either on our automotive interiors at work, or on the carpet at home, after the product is applied, either manually, or as Jonna indicated, with a carpet machine, (I did this a few weeks ago) the solution is either worked into a spot with your fingers, or a brush, and then removed either with a shop vac, carpet machine, or in the instance of a small area, with a towel, the area can also be rinsed with water afterwards as well. We have never just sprayed the product and let it soak in with out removing it, that way there is no leftover residue.

All right then. I can stop my rant.

We have two duplexes and you wouldn't believe the messes people make trying to shampoo the carpets.

Sounds like it would be best to call a pro.  Not a rant Esther, just your experiences.

I agree Jerry, definitely not a rant! I think everyones experiences help everyone else out! You probably helped a bunch a people Esther who for all these years have just been leaving on whatever version of a miracle cleaner they were using, not even thinking about what happens when it dries!
