Elephant Ear question
« on: April 23, 2008, 07:16:15 AM »
I just got a HUGE Elephant Ear bulb It's so cool looking. Yes, it's my first!  I'm an EE virgin.

Question though - one end is a little mushy. Is it still ok? Is it safe to plant it? Or can you cut that part off and not damage the bulb?

What should I do?

I would take a knife and scrape off rotten part and maybe let it dry out few days before planting it. Someone else might have better idea.

well not sure it will work for you but I have tons of the monsters and when I dig them in the fall to bring in for the winter, I always manage to slice a few in half.  I keep the halves and they grow just fine the next summer..The mush I would be alittle afriad of since it could rot.. never had one do that so dont know if it would be a problem or not.  If its really warm it might take off so quick it would not rot first... Let me know if somethin happens to it I have PLENTY to share :)
