Finally up and running!
« on: May 12, 2008, 12:01:43 PM »
We finally got some good weather over the weekend, so we got it all cleaned up and fired up the old Sequence.  @O@
I hope this isn't too many pics to put here, I was just camera happy! More like "overjoyed" that I finally got around to this mess. Oh, and I had a little helper.

Before-

My little helper  o(:-)-

Yay! Done-

OK, now that that's done we're on to the next project. We decided that the walls of our mechanical filter box were getting pushed in too much by the soil, and the brushes no longer fit inside correctly. So, we've dug it up and need to find some way of reinforcing the wall.

This next picture shows the walls of the filter box bowing out since we excavated all the dirt around it. You can see how the brushes don't fit right. Once we get material for reinforcement, we'll have to drain this out and get the walls right.  ::)

It's a mess, but it's an organized mess!

My better half, thinking -

First bloom of the year. Have you ever seen such a poor pic of Joey Tomocik? I'm not complaining, the poor thing had a long winter.

Our next project-

Just one more pic. This is my daughter, who preferred to curl up by the fire pit with The Curse of The Mummy's Tomb. She's allergic to shop vacs  ;).

Sorry if I posted too many pics.  :woot: What does "woot" mean, anyway?

Your waterfall stream looks beautiful!  I like the small pine too.  At least you get help while he's young.... :D

The flowering trees are so pretty!  Even the mass of dandylions look nice  :o.  You've got a big project to finish, good luck!

I guess I've never seen the insides of a real filter before. Are the brushes the only filtration you have?

By the way, you look like you accomplished a lot with the work you did. Of course Mr. Junior Muscles was a big help huh?  ;)

Thanks! Those flowering trees are Pear trees... and you should see the petals in my pond now. The skimmer can't keep up with them. I hope my little helper keeps it up.  :)

Esther, that filter box & skimmer are the only "real" part of my filtration. Everything else (skippy, vortex, TT, etc) is home made. I think the home made stuff works better, and that is based on years of solid scientific observation.  ;D
Mr. Junior Muscles eventually got kicked off the job because he was sucking up live plants and my precious Lake Michigan rounded pebbles.  ;)

joeyb5980, yup- water makes all the difference. Thanks. It's so nice to see it all moving again. The stream will look better once the plants fill in.

WOW, everything looks great.

Isn't it great when your little ones help out.  I know my daughter just loves to help.  The boys on the other hand, sometimes they do and sometimes they don't.
