08 Releases
« on: May 18, 2008, 08:24:03 AM »
Here are some links to more pictures of the new releases for 08...
Charlie's Pride, Avalanche and Blue Aster.
Here are some links to the photos of the new lilies on their new pages...
http://www.internationalwaterlilycollection.com/The%20Plants/TropDay/charliespride.html

http://www.internationalwaterlilycollection.com/The%20Plants/TropDay/avalanche.html

http://www.internationalwaterlilycollection.com/The%20Plants/TropDay/blueaster.html

For those that have seen some of these in the photos section, there are more photos on the linked pages than what I posted here as well as larger sizes in terms of pixels and compression. In other words it will take a bit longer to see them but with lilies like these, the wait is worth it.

Want to know what is even cooler about Charie's Pride?
It seems to be fertile.
I have already had one pod rupture this week.
It looked to only have a couple possibly viable seed and a lot of trash but only time will tell.

Blue Aster has a lot going for it. While the pads are awesome, the flower seems to have a more consistent flow from the center outwards than other moptops. And the color is wow.

Avalanche is also nice, I like the subtle coloring.

We just brought Charlie's Pride home today,  @O@ it really stood out amongst the others in the tank at the store. Our temps are still to cold here to put it outside as of yet. So he's in the winter tank in the basement.

I am no expert on trops, but Charlies Pride looks exactly like Miami Rose to me.  :-\
Same goes for Blue Aster...there are a lot of look a like moptops out there, at least to me, being no expert.  ?)(?

Avalanche looks different and new to me. Unique...I like it best out of all of them because to me it is the most unique.   O0
To me it is a 3 color lily, from pink, to white, to periwinkle-blue.  8)
Peace to all  ... Joyce

If it ever warms up here so we can get it out in the sun I will try to get some clearer and brighter pictures. Nancy saw this plant from across the green house, amongst all the other lilies this one really stood out.

All three of those are really beautiful.  Mop Tops huh?  I see the connection, they have a lot of petals and a nice shape.  I too like Avalanche a lot because it reminds me of my favorite rose, Sterling Silver.  Don't know if it has that color in real life but it looks like it in the pictures.  I'd like one of each please.

I was just about to ask this question. Hmmm better source me one. Maybe someone in Thailand has it, actualy Australia would be easy too. I notice in the pictures some are more pink/lilac than others, does the colour change as the flower ages?

What is the main difference between Blue aster and King of Siam besides the leaf pattern?

Im not a huge fan of the "mop tops", they seem fine the first and second day but then go a bit convex. I like them to hold a good shape.
