Author Topic: Terrible News about one of our members (Read 3502 times)

I received an email last night that let me know that KC, Ken Clarke from Vancouver BC had an accident in Mexico last weekend and passed away. He fell and though paramedics were close by and first aid was given he did not regain consciousness. My deepest sympathy to Marie and to his daughter and her family. I'm trying to confirm if the address that I have is still current if anyone wants to send a card.

I only met KC once in person, but he was such a great guy and I hoped that our paths would cross again. This is shocking and horrible news.

I just spoke with him via email briefly a few weeks ago.

BC Pond Partay 2003 Someone had warned us not to get so drunk together that we fell down and bloodied our knees or something like that. Heck, I can't even remember!

I have received an update. It seems he had a heart attack and that is what killed him, not hitting his head after the fall. It seems likely the heart attack may have caused his fall but Ed didn't say so.

Marie has returned to Canada, he will be cremated and half his ashes will stay in his beloved Mexico and half will return to Marie.

Please PM me for my address if you don't have it already and I will collect cards and send all at once to Marie. Bob and I stayed with Ken and Marie for the last BC Partay so I have her address ( is confirmed) but she may not want it given out.

Ken's daughter's name is Brandi, I don't have her address but I do have her mother's so I will send cards to Brandi there.

I won't open the cards, just either address them to Marie or to Brandi c/o me (I'll give you my full name when you PM me) and I'll put them all in a big envelope

This is very sad news. We also have fond memories of the parties. with Ken and Marie. We also enjoyed a couple other visits with them outside of the parties. I have some photos too but can't seem to find them right now. I would like to send a card too LeeAnne.

OMG... I can not believe this. Very sad news indeed. We were talking about Ken while we were in Puerto Vallarta last week as his Mexican property was only 20 minutes south of the PV airport and we were so close to him at the time of our visit. Probably a 30 minute drive.

I would often hear from Ken in Vancouver, we would touch base every once in a while and talk waterlilies.

He will be missed.

Never met Ken, but always enjoyed his posts. He will be missed by many. :'(

It does bring to mind that we are here on this earth very short term.
Enjoy it and take care of it.

Amen to that Steve. It also leads me to believe that I am still such a newby here--I did not know him and I've been around here for a few years at least. I do think I remember him posting.

It is such a priviledge to grow older each day spending time with friends (like these) and our families and the strangers we meet day to day. One of my favorite sayings is: "She said she cried at least once a day; not because she was sad. But because the world is so beautiful and life is so short."

That indeed is sad news. I never met KC and only knew him through this forum. It sounds as if he lived his signature line:

"DREAM AS IF YOU WILL LIVE FOREVER, LIVE AS IF YOU WILL DIE TODAY"

He will be missed by all who knew him.
