It's been a long, cold, rainy May, but this guy brightened it up for me.

What kind of bird is that?

We don't have anything so dramatic here.  But I have enjoyed a female cardinal outside my kitchen window for two months.  Brings her mate occasionally.  There's been a blue jay around here, too, but just yesterday, while trimming my tree, I found him dead in the gutter.  Don't know if it was a car, cat, or the bird flu, which we have had around here in past years.  shame.  He was pretty, and there aren't that many around here.

What a great photo on the golden finch.  I saw one the other day after hanging up a finch feeder for the first time.  But I haven't seen a yellow one for a few days so I hope he/she comes back.

Thanks for sharing the pic.

American Goldfinch, male. :)  Pretty.

I don't have them here, too urban. They are in Oregon though. I don't have cardinals or blue jays either, none in Oregon.  Do have scrub jays and Stellar's jays.

Very cute and colorful pic!  We have a lot of them around here too, I love to hear all the chattering they do when a small flock of them are at the feeder.
