I'm no expert, but it reminds me of the scammers that try to get us at work. Only they call us through the (?) TTY phone service for the deaf. Someone from Canada isn't going to have that bad of grammer. I'd watch out if I were you.

Sounds like a huge scam to me. We do have sea kayaks up here that he could easily acquire.
I would ask him to refrain from further communication.

Some people store their kayaks on the side of their house or thereabouts as there may not be room in their garage. I think this person wants your address because he wants to steal your kayaks.....

It's definitely a scam. They would then send you a check for too much and ask you to send them a check for the difference. My best friend had it happen to her. I told her about it before anything could happen. That's why CL tells you to deal locally. Report him to CL. They will ban his IP address if they can find it.

I had a similar offer from Florida for my Quad in So Cal that I am selling. He said he would send a cashiers check for more and for me to forward the overage to his shipping company in Northern Cal.

My friend in the FBI told me this is a known scam on Craigs list.

I did report it, but now I have a new and very benign one, a new name but the phrasing is the same.
Did not say where he was. I wrote and asked. We will see.

I will likely have them sold tomorrow anyway.

My wife got a similar reply to a car that she had for sale in a local online classified. She reported him to his email client and never was heard from again. It's just another Nigerian scam, so beware.

It appears common. Craig's List does warn you.
An actor who you have all seen in commercials, replies and strings them along. He posts the letters. It is very funny.

Glad that it all worked out. I'm always leary of too much info needed, but I think that I'm a pretty good judge of who I can deal with. I love craigs list. I've bought several things, and am thinking of getting a hold of a guy about a lathe tonight. It's a bunch of money, so I'll watch my back carefully.
