I'm not sure where this guy came from-we put some tree frogs in the pond last week but I think they all hopped away. Then a day later this fellow started up with his big ol croak.

We keep getting Bullfrogs. So far, in the last month we have carried seven big one back to the lake. I only let the small ones stay. I found some bird bones on the plant shelf in the pond!  I'm pretty sure it was one of the large bullfrogs, so off they went.

I've got lots of tree frogs and some little toad that I can't figure out what kind it is. Of course, with all them comes the tadpoles and there's lots of them!

Cool frog picture Oh, and what is that green leaf growing plant you have in the picture? I thought I saw some of that growing on the one side of the pond, where the clay is always wet.

This must be a young bullfrog-he would fill up a big teacup at this point. He's sitting on a seed from a silver maple. The plant is aquatic mint and let me know if you want some. I have been ripping it up for 3 years now just to keep it in check!

Missy, treefrogs only hang around to breed. To get to to keep coming back you need to add the tadpoles to your pond then they might come back every year to spawn. However, bullfrogs will eat them and so do fish.

I had a pond with goldfish for years and no frogs. The neighbors had an old above ground pool full of frogs but it wasn't until I built little ponds with no fish that the treefrogs just showed up. I added tadpoles several times but it never worked.
