Thats right it is a voodoo lily. Last year it was a tree and dropped several tubers (they grow on the leaves) I found the box I put them in and they are all sprouting
So far it does not Stink but I am assured it will at some point.

Cool looking plant though.

I have four of those planted out front. They went dormant but are coming up as foliage. I was hoping I would get a bloom instead so I could add another complaint letter from the HOA to my collection.

I would guess that is A. bulbifer, and if it is, the fragrance, tho that is not the word I would use, is not all that bad.  A.  titanum and others are pollinated by carrion flies and need to smell like my garbage after I forgot to take the chicken bones out a couple of weeks ago (!!!), but not the one you pictured.  This one smells kind of like bad perfume; you would not ever wear it, but you don't get a gag reflex smelling it, either!!!  It is actually even marginally hardy up here in Zone 7-it is one of the more hardy species, so you ought to send some of those spare tubers up to us "Northerners"!

Cool!  Will it come back as a tree plant or a lily flower again next year?

Andy,
That reminds me of the 'surprise lily'.  Comes up as a bunch of leaves that resembel a daylily.  The leaves die down and then the stalk of the flower emerges.  Very Interesting!

Is that some sort of Ginger plant in the window box?

Down south as in?? More south than Tallahassee Florida?  I am sure the further south the better.  As to the tree or the Lily I believe it alternates every other year. Kinda cool and it likes the Shade/partial shade.
The Plant in the planter is a groundcover whose name escapes me. Joyce would know for sure.

I found it interesting that the stalk had the same speckled pattern both years.
