Cool! Is the egg what they are always in? Looks like a mini hornets net.

They ARE cute, Sushi!  Nothing like raising your own batch of praying mantis.   @O@

I have a few outside every year on my plants.  I always make sure to keep them out of harm's way (weedeater, clippers, etc.), so they can go about their business of eating other bugs.  I just love them.   o(:-)

I had 2 eggs this year!!!  I let them go in the garden!!!  Was kind of neat watching the eggs hatch. They hold a lot of bugs!

That is the coolest thing. I hope you get to see lots of them throughout the season. Wouldn't it be cool if they could be "tagged"...  :D

What an excellent thing to be selling at a flower show.

We have a few species here including a real giant about five inches long in a lovely bright new spring green colour. I caught two of them to get a better look putting them in a small aquarium. Five minutes later when I went to have a look I saw the most startling thing.

One of them was standing there grooming itself casually while the other, well it had been neatly arranged on the floor in identical matching pieces, still fully alive.
All the legs had been removed along with the pairs of wings and lay as they fell, either side of the hapless torso and head swivelling from side to side antenna twitching.
As calmly as could be and with surgical precision the other went in and bending its head downwards and sideways as if to kiss the incapacitated victim a last good-bye, it neatly nipped its head off. Which fell right there.

I have to say I did feel a twinge of revulsion at my complicity. Hopefully they at least mated first is what I though as I hurriedly set the butcher free.

It does look like a little hornets nest.  I have no idea how they all fit in there. I think I'll get 2 next year  O0
