If you never had/grown a tropical lily read this!
« on: June 01, 2008, 04:33:10 PM »
I remember well my first tropical lily years ago.  You would not have believed how excited I was by the first bloom!  It was a Panama Pacific and it was gorgeous! @O@

Well I have 2 small tropical lilies I'll send for postage to someone who's never had and would like to try one.  I just re-potted my Albert Greenburg and got a small start off the parent plant.  I also have a small start that i think is a un named blue lily or it might be a night bloomer.

To recap they are really small, but with all the good info and tutorials here, you ought to be able to grow a beautiful lily or 2.

Free for postage.

I've grown hardy lilies for years but haven't ever tried a tropical. If one is still available I'd love to give it a try.

Wow, this is great. Its through generosity that I got started with tropical water lilies. I'd like to contribute to. I've got a young William Mclane.

Hey Enzo,

The tropicals I got from you are growing well!  They even have a new 12ft round pond just for them!

Teng and Linda,

I'll be sending out your packages this coming Monday.  Hope they do well for you.  Beware, after you've had a tropical, you'll want more every year!   :D

Now you all know you can winter these tropical lilies over? And have it and maybe more for next year. Do not think of them as an annual. Think of them as a lily for your pond next year too. It is so easy why not try to save it this fall. I can tell you all how.

This fall we will have a topic about saving your tropical water lilies. I promiss you can do this if it produces a tuber. And most do. But you have to quit feeding your tropical lilies in August. It has to quit getting food so hopefully it will produce a tuber.

Look at Seans tutorials on how to propagate tropical lilies. Under tropical lily propagation. That is the nut or tuber I am talking about saving, that is on his site.
