« on: June 02, 2008, 01:39:02 PM »
Hey all !!! miss my pond family !  wow !!!!!!!! this season has been wild !!! tons of new projects,.. fixes, redo's,..fish culls,... all kinds of wild  stuff !!!  I have a small moment to post 2 ponds I build last month.

Here is one I did in a town about 35min from San Antonio.  After 2 months of begging me to come out,.. I gave in ;)  SOooooooooooo.... 8,000lbs of rock later, several waterfalls, and over 1000lbs of mortar keeping it all in place... she is very happy.

These pics are 1 day after the completion.  I left a nice planting area around the Oak trees in the center, along the back wall, and all kinds of nooks and crannies between rock. She is a master gardner, so the skies the limit once she get's going !    I'll surely take pics once this pond is grown in and lush !

Welcome back Carlos!  Missed you too!

Beautiful project!  I would be very very happy too!  I like how you kept the trees and worked the waterfall, stream, pond around them.  Oh!  The urge to make something wonderful like that is stirring up again but unfortunately realistically I know I'll never be able to do it.  By myself that is... ::)

Thanks for sharing another beautiful design, Carlos!

ahhhh Carlos! Another beautiful pond.  I love the split stream around the tree, really nice.

Now, if only I could get you down to Merida my life would be so much easier.  I've been trying to explain what I want in my bad spanish and mainly my lack of words for pond concepts and parts... if it weren't so sad it would be pretty funny.  Actually, it was funny even when I was doing it.  Can you imagine how you can embarrass yourself trying to describe "bottom drain" in another language?  Only to find out that they call it "el bottom drain"!   I finally found a pond builder who is making a plumbing diagram for the architect and I have more hope.  Still, if you ever decide to take a working vacation to the Yucatan please let me know.

Hmm I like it very much Carlos, except the waterfall in the corner, it looks like its coming out of a blank wall. Do you think she will cover the wall in a thick stone hugging creeper or something in an attempt to make it look like it wasn't sort of just put up there in the corner? Maybe a low wide one might have worked better there.

I see so many water features that look a bit self conscious because of the fact that they are put in a position that looks totally unnatural. This of course works brilliantly if you choose to use a formal modern design, but cascading rapids emanating out of a picket fence or a brick wall uh uh. ;)

Thanks all !   I can't wait to see what this will look like once she gets all the terrestrial plants going.  CEDRIC---- left space right behind the upper BIO FALL waterfall so she can plant something , as well as to both sides.  I want to see that area closed in with vegetation so you don't get the OUT OF THE WALL look so much.  There is so much hardscape--- it needs the plants to make it lush and THENNNNNNNnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn you can start to appreciate the nice rock work as it's softened up some.  we shall see.... in the months to come I'll be taking a pic or two.  Just did the underwater lighting today !   It's gonna look grand in the evening and night ! woo hoo !

Hmm the only way that's going to work is if she uses some super-size-me bamboo to blot out the entire corner of the house, so it looks like the rapids are emanating out of a glade. Only problem bamboo and water a big mess.

Very beautiful pond and lots of huge rocks.  You have done a gorgeous job.  Truly inspiring!!!
I love the big fish near the top waterfall too.  Is it a planter?   What is it made of?
Thanks for sharing pictures of this lovely pond!

I don't know what the client is thinking of planting up top around the bio falls... something big and leafy i hope ;)    maybe some butterfly iris or a philadendrum ?!?!?  NEVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR   would I suggest a client to put in bamboo ;)  I think we all know how TERRIBLE that stuff is with liner.   The pond is a touch under 1000gallons.   The fish up top is a planter ;)

Carlos, awesome as usual. So does this mean that if I keep pestering you, you'll come build a pond for me in Dallas? Let's see, this is probably only the 10th time I've asked. How many times did she ask again?!

Yes some nice large leafed thing. Think she's going to have to cover the entire wall as well in evergreen creeper. I wonder if a delightful baroque font like structure there might have worked, directly under the window? Then the wall might fit in effortlessly.
