Garden gazing ball
« on: June 04, 2008, 11:29:48 AM »
I'm not a big fan of gazing ball generally, but my MIL got this one for my birthday last year and I really like it:  unusual colors and when the sun hits it it GLOWS.  Well, Maxwell is quite taken with the "cat" he sees in it.      lol      He walks around looking at the eyes looking back at him.  Thought you would enjoy him.

LOL! That's really cute. The ball is pretty cool too.
Its pointless to have those glass ones here because of the wind so I use bowling balls. :)

Shanna, I can't believe it hasn't been broken yet-with kids, dogs, cats, me, and extreme wind mostly always.  I am obsessive about running out before a storm in case of hail:  I'll probably trip and break the @#$%&*! thing  lol   I like the bowling ball one also!

Kim-he does wonder why that cat stares at him.  Maxwell doesn't meow, he chirps.  And when he sits there he chirps a lot! :D

I love it when they make that sounds.  It cracks me up listening to our cats talk to the birds through the window.

That is so cute. I love it when our pets do that. Birds like to look at a Soda can ("pop" here in the midwest) and talk to it.

I bought a bowling ball at a garage sale and haven't had the time to glue the glass blobs to it. Gosh I hope to do that before I die... Someday...

That's a very cute picture, LuAnn...and your gazing ball is beautiful.  I got a "hand-blown glass" gazing ball for Mother's Day, and my first thought was "A glass gazing ball in Kansas??? :o"  Kansas is the third windiest state in the USA.  Patio furniture, flower pots, patio torches, tree limbs, etc. get blown over on a regular basis around here.   :-\

Needless to say, I haven't gotten it outside yet.  I'm going to find a very heavy concrete stand and glue the ball to the stand...and then pray.   lol

I love your bowling ball gazing ball, too, Shanna!  I've always wanted to do one of those.

Great gazing ball and cute kitty. The bowling ball is neat too.

Sandye, I glued my gazing ball to a cement birdbath stand because the dogs smashed my first one.

Yes I had a red one that cost $60. I use to run out and get it before a storm. So we stored it in the garage. I moved it from where my husbamd put it so it would not get broke. Well guess what? Yep he broke it after I moved it to be safe. Figures.

Yup, that's what I'm afraid of too.  Notice in the pic DH nailed the base to a block of wood cuz it kept tipping over in the flower beds.  Blowing flowers would knock that thing over.  I don't know why they make such fragile stuff for outside--it's beautiful but I'm spending way too much time moving it around trying to keep it from being broken!  :D

I also had to add this picture--I caught Maxwell just sitting by the pickup.  This is the front bumper and DH has a chrome bumper on the back that he sits by and stares at himself.  He is such a meek and mild cat, never meows, never hisses, just follows me everywhere outside and sits and looks at his reflection every chance he gets.  What a funny little guy!  o(:-)

That is a very pretty ball. I too have a couple of the bowling ball ones, the others wouldn't last long around here I'm afraid.

Hey Kittyzee,

That is one funny cat. Very cute pic of him in front of the beautiful gazing ball, and now admiring himself in the bumper.

He's in love (:-) o(:-) o(:-)---with himself @O@ @O@

He has a great personality that cat, if I'm sitting on the porch step putting on my shoes, he jumps up on my back and sits on my shoulders and sniffs my hair  lol   Romeo!

Shanna, I LOVE that bowling ball with the coppery stand?  Wherever did you find that stand -- or did you make it?  :o
