Lotus! First there was one...

now there are TWO!  I was happy dancing out in the garden (much to the embarassment of my kids ;)) when I went out to check the lotuses.  Momo Botan is now over waist high...here is the first bud I found the other day...growing and growing...



And as I moved the arial leaves, I found ....




another bud! @O@

I am so excited!

Julles...it's water hyacinth!  They are really blooming nicely for me this year...very pretty. 


Of course...this is what they look like in the "wild"...this is a bayou in front of our house...completely clogged with water lilies.  They are so incredibly invasive.  The ones in my pond stay nice, petite and tame for the most part.  Theones in the bayou are easily 2 feet tall.  It's pretty amazing when they all bloom at once.

 @O@ More photos of lotus bud, I still do not have one yet.  Cool photo of Cow Koi.  That's the 1st time seeing wild water hyacinths.

Sounds like my lotus, first one, now two.... leaves...  :o

Actually the one out front is cruzin' with a forth leaf uncurling...

Your pond is beaaauuuuutiful!!! O0  Love the lotus o(:-).  The ones I got from Frank are starting to make tiny leaves so it is progress!!!

Do show the flowers once they are open.

That bayou photo is sad. Water hyacinths are choking tropical waterways all over the world like that. Bad for boating and bad for native species.
