I'm still imagining the Karate Kid out there standing on one leg doing a high kick. ;)

Looks very Asian inspired to me. O0 8)

Sunbeam I love that bridge just the way it is. Absolutely love the way it moves across the water and goes so well with the landscape. Very pleasing. A hint of danger and adventure and youthful athletic resourcefulness.
Do you have any sculptures in the grass, I just feel there should be one some distance from the pond on the other side of that bridge. Leading the eye beyond and away. A journey across earth water wind.

Oh that's an idea a wind kinetic sculpture. Large and monumental, like a rotating pendulum?

Good idea, Cedric! Hmmmmm.....

The only piece that will stay the same is the center, but it will be pushed down in the mud some. My good friend Butch will bring over his trackhoe someday and push it down. Its slowly settling, but we will accelerate the process. :)

The two cross pieces, the interrupted journey, will be trimmed to a more demure aesthetic norm.

And its missing the anchors. There will be two BEEG rocks, one on each end, on the northwest and southeast side, to give it presence and strength.  @O@

All it takes is time and...

Joyce, as I am sure you know, the zig zag bridge is a feature of oriental gardening.  @O@
I have modified it somewhat, because of the availability of materials. All the parts so far have been free. Did I mention I have a friend named Butch? He has a construction company. These are all parts from a railroad trestle that he was hired to take down about ten years ago. They've been lying around waiting for someone to find a reason to use them. The wood was really dry.
The parts were floated  :o to their positions because they were so dry - thank GOODNESS - because we couldn't lift them now that they have been saturated again with pond water.

I had trouble setting the pillars in place, because they kept floating, and because I was working in knee deep water with a small shovel. So I opted for using weight to press them into the bottom.
Eventually  {:-P;; the pillars and the walkway will be level.

The pond has some growing to do too. On the east side, I want to fill it with iris. Its relatively shallow. On the west side, nothing but water lilies, its deeper. :)

And then there is the walkway to build, and the tea house (entrance only) and the fire pit...  8-)~
Ummm. its a work in progress. ::)

It looks neat, Sav!   O0 Is the final bridge going to be wider, or are you going to have to insist that people can't cross it when they're tipsy???   {:-P;;

It looks fabulous. It's fits perfectly in your pond.

Very cool idea, how far did you sink the posts into the mud. Will they settle or stay where they are at.
And, updates will be great to watch.
Have fun,

The planks are 4 x 14 - solid. They don't give when you walk over them - not springy at all.
Its definately a one lane path, tho.
