That is Spearwort. It looks like a big overgrown buttercup. Mine has about 5 flowers on it now, and my pickerel weed is about to bloom as well! woop!  ;D

It is azolla (sp?), and it has become a real pain in the arse! Every few days I scoop out a few pounds of it and put in the composter. It is trying real hard to take over my pond! LOL ;D

It is still neat to look at though (the azolla).  I am trying to grow some but I am afraid mine might not have survived the transplant shock from the hot days down here in the postal system trucks...I just need one or two to make it though from what it sounds like.
My next female cat will be called "Whata Lily"!

Every plant in my pond came threw the mail system this year and seems to have done ok, so I wouldn't worry about it. They bounce back remarkably well!  O0

I like the azolla....got me some. I hear fish eat it and I have 2 big comets so maybe it won't take over. Water Hyacinth is my problem. I haven't been able to bring myself to throw any away yet. o(
