Gardening Quiz
« on: July 11, 2008, 09:58:07 PM »
Here is a humorous quiz I found on another site to test your gardening prowess.

1.  Talked to a plant.
2.  Named a plant.
3.  Played with hybridizing plants.
4.  Apologized to a plant.
5.  Hunted snails at night.
6.  Pulled a weed at night.
7.  Pulled a weed from someone else's garden (without them knowing).
8.  Pulled a weed from someone else’s garden while you were talking with them (because you just couldn’t help it).
9.  Transplanted a plant more than 3 times.
10. Pruned someone else’s rose without their permission "because it needed it" (or if you've ever seriously thought about doing it.)
11. Phoned your local nursery to find out the exact day the bare root trees arrive.
12. Planted something you knew wouldn't grow in your region, but you just had to try.
13. Joined a gardening club.
14. Took a gardening class.
15. Member of a botanical garden.
16. "Liberated" a cutting or seeds of a plant from someone's garden without asking.
17. Stopped by your local nursery on the way home from work "just to check things out".
18. Hid a newly purchased plant from your spouse/significant other.
19. Spent way too much money for a plant that you just had to have.
20. Your local nursery employees know you by name.
21. Made a compost pile.
22. Picked up free coffee grounds for composting from Starbucks or other coffee shop.
23. Raised worms.
24. Ever made worm poop tea.
25. Made a hydrangea flower turn blue.
26. Tried to graft something.
27. Took a picture of your garden and sent it to someone without them asking for it.
28. Rescued earthworms from the street/gutter after a rainy day and took them home and put them in your garden.
29. Gave unsolicited gardening advice to someone you don't really know.
30. Subscribe to 3 or more gardening magazines.
31. Worked in your garden while still in your pajamas because you ‘accidentally’ stepped outside before getting dressed.
32. Lightly touched all (or a bunch) of the flowers on your fruit trees to “help” the bees pollinate them.
33. Your Christmas or Birthday wish list asked for a special gardening product/tool (not a plant).
34. Make up your own potting mix to your specifications.

Scoring:
· 1-5 – Your still a newbie.  Keep up the good work.  O0
· 6-10 - You’ve got a good start on your path to gardening bliss.  8)
· 11-15 - Now we’re talking, I bet the people at the gardening center recognize you when you walk in.
· 16-20 - Very good:victory: You can officially consider yourself obsessed.
· 21-27 - Excellent:2thumbs: You are truly a gardener at heart. If your plants could talk they’d tell you they love you!
· 28- 34 - Simply amazing@O@  You are gifted.  Someone from the funny farm will be by shortly to fit you for a special jacket

Modesty prevents me from giving my score ::)
Never in PJs but often in a bathrobe. You already know I'm a thief, but I prefer to call it a liberator!
I once pulled a huge weed from a Cousin's garden, turned out to be a dahlia!  She shrieked!

Good one Mike!

I'm an "Excellent" gardener.  But it took years to get to this point!
#6- With my flashlight it's the best time of the day/night :D
#10 - My neighbor started this with me when my roses looked neglected.  Now we do minor trims whenever the tasks requires it!
#22 - I know I can pick up grounds at the local coffee shops but I think I produce enough grounds to make it ok to slide this point.
#31 - Did this this morning and forgot about the 'jammies' and walked out to the front and greeted strangers taking a walk around the neighborhood.  Worst?  They stopped to talk and admire the garden.  I still had crusty eyes!  :P
#32 - I'm normal?!

Good one Mike!  O0

I added a few items to the list above before posting it here.  What other things to die-hard gardeners do?

Once in a while I wander out to the front garden in the early morning and suddenly become self conscious and I quickly look down to make sure I'm not wearing something inappropriate.....

I never thought of myself as obsessed, but it turns out I am that and more.

Oh well, if the shoe fits . . . .

Cheers,

Mike

I've always known I was obsessed. LOL  I certainly have gardened in my nightgown. Which is actually a tee shirt dress so not indecent but still should not be outdoors.....

I spray Round Up on the neighbor's ivy and bindweed, I chose yes for pulled neighbor's weeds for that trick.

I've never hybridized, grafted or mixed my own potting soil unless adding perlite to commercial soils counts.

How about adding:

35) Dream about plants in color for days in a row?
36) Requested an American Ponders T-Shirt as anniversary gift?
My next female cat will be called "Whata Lily"!
