Moon Over Amtrak
«
on:
July 12, 2008, 10:23:36 PM »
It's become a goofy tradition for some free-spirited folks to meet in Laguna Niguel on July 12th every year and greet the passing north bound and south bound Amtrak trains. The greeting method: lower your drawers, bend over and press your cheeks against the chain link fence while doing a backward hand wave to the passengers....
As is often the case with such silliness, the publicity has resulted in much larger and younger crowds showing up and today some 50 Sheriff deputies had to disperse the 8,000 or so participants due to complaints of public drunkenness and females baring their breasts.
I believe this video was from last year.

Nudity and silliness. I bet they were playing Jimmy Buffett music, too.

This link explains how this tradition started.

I think it was harmless fun for several years and it slowly has gotten out of control. I imagine the first few times that passengers on the Amtrak saw this they probably figured there was a plumbers convention in town
....no offense Esther as we know your DH doesn't show off his plumbers crack....

Too funny.
Why are you Americans so afraid of butt crack anyway? I mean on the show
Survivor
they blur out the butt cracks when one of them is half a mile down the beach an on
Amazing Race
they blurr out the animal behinds (how dare those animals parade around naked). Must be evil or something.

I'm not affraid of them! In fact there are several I wouldn't mind seeing on the TV or live for that matter.
I don't even mind it when people give and ocaisional moon. But to just stand there for no good reason??? Maybe the first time it was funny, but seems pointless now?

Um, er, I take the Amtrak to down to San Diego 3 or 4 times a year - but I have never seen this. What time does this happen- just so I can figure out which train train to miss you understand (that's my story and I'm sticking to it).
Cheers,
Mike

Anytime I see something screech across a room and latch onto someone's neck, and the guy screams and tries to get it off, I have to laugh, because what is that thing?

Too funny!
Mikey, since the crowd got out of hand this year, do you think they will try to put a stop to the mooning next year?

Sandye: I think the Sheriff will play it by ear. Hopefully the "veterans" will do a better job at policing themselves and there won't be any need for the Sheriff to shut it down. I read that after people were run off, a bunch returned later and continued to moon the passing trains. I think it's funny when people hold up their babies bare bottoms to moon the train............ future mooners of America

I'm not sure who's crazier Steve. Someone baring their butt on a warm day or someone freezing it while fishing on top of a frozen lake....

I have to say on Steve's side on this one Mikey, We can bundel up and at times build a fire. And at least there is a chance of bringing home some dinner!
