I know many of you are using stock tanks for ponds ... here are mine.  Post pics of yours, too  :)

Those look great!  I wish I had a stock tank to post....  :-\  A stock tank is still on my wish list.  I love the color of the brick on your house too...

Sue- I always envy your metal stock tanks!  What a nice shot- not used to flat land extending as far as you can see in the background- we are full of hills all around here.... I could just jump on a horse, and ride off happily into nowhere right there...  looks very peaceful :)

Joey...DH uses the binoculars to check the farm house sometimes...it is 3 1/2 miles away.  I love it actually and I was raised in south Texas with lots of oak trees.

Actually there are 2 different yellows  both nonames in that tank.  I just love the tall stems.  One was suppose to be Barbara Dobbins... :-\...but I love it anyway.  The petals on the other are a little crinkly when yolou look close...it has a bigger bloom.  Both lilies have out done them selves this summer.  o(:-)

Here are three of mine. I have another 100 gallon and a 110 gallon tank set up as well but don't have pics of them yet.
I need to take some more current pics as they have changed quite a bit since this one.

I have a tiny little one.  Hubby started digging a new liner pond but I will keep this little stock tank pond because it is my very first pond.

Old photo from earlier this year with no fish and maybe 2 new plants.

Here is one with fish and small plant.

The stock tanks are really pretty.  How many gallons do they hold and do you have to line the metal ones?

 8)  The 8' x 24" stocktanks hold approx 750 gallon.  I only line the "leaky" tanks.  If you use a 18" kiddie pool...they hold approx 550 gallons if it is level.

Here are some updated shots from this weekend.

First two are 100 gallon tanks and the next two round tanks are somewhere around 150-175 gallons.

This one I bought just a few weeks ago. Its 110 gallon. I like this style of tank better than the rubblermaid 100 gallons. This one has straighter sides and a wider bottom so there is more pot room.

This is a great thread, Keep those pix comming! I don't have one cuz I would half to keep a heater in it all winter to keep it from freezing solid. I made the mistake of leaving my first little pool un heated and it was burried, And it froze solid through.
I'm just happier outside!

Glad to see I'm not the only one with stock tank fever.  If you live in a colder climate, use the tank in the spring/summer/fall only & empty it for the winter.  Put your plants in your main pond for winter but have the stock tank for an additional lily pond during growing season.  That is what I do with some of my smaller ponds--empty them & store upside down.  I'll also put my statues & such under them so the frost won't damage them.

The 100 gallon tanks will freeze solid here too but the bigger round tanks in the back don't freeze solid. I stack everything in them for winter and keep a small pump running for water movement and they only freeze on the surface from about mid Dec. to early Feb. This year I'm going to have do something different though because I won't be able to get everything into those two tanks. ::) We've been looking for a used larger round tank but haven't found one yet.
