Just went down this weekend and everything is moving forward on our house.  Even the dock is finished, just need to get the electric hooked up for the lift and we'll be ready to go...Jerry come east and we will go out for some rockfish.  I also noticed a territorial war going on between the Osprey and Heron.

Enjoy,

Gary

Gorgeous!

My Paranormal abilities are kicking in... I see a boat in your future.  :) And a fishing pole...

Love the house, and the view. Are those solar panels up top?  8)

Wow! Very nice house and location!  So may I park my small imaginary 50' yacht at the end of that dock?   :D

Your bird neighbors are checking you out!  :o

Karen:

You have great mind reading, you must do tarot readings lol.  Yes I put in a 3KW photovoltaic system

Annette:

Sure back thing up a whole bunch of us want to go out fishing.  Unfortunately the stinging Nettles have come in so we can't jump in.

Great job.

Stinging nettles?? In the water? One of our duplexes has them around in spots. But they are all growing in soil, not in the creek or by the creek. So maybe I'm thinking of something different. They sure are nasty things though. I warned the tenants about them. They have little kids and mercy a little kid would hurt something fierce.

It looks idyllic.  Love to see it live!
Excellent move on solar panels.
Here in a location like that it would go for 5 mil, easy!

Hey Jerry:

Perhaps I can transplant the house...no where near $5M, but certainly like the quiet area; however those Osprey make a racket at times.  Any suggestions for keeping the gulls off the posts?  It appears to be their new outhouse!!!! ;D

Ester:  In the Cheaspeake area they call these Jelly fish Stinging nettles.  I suspect the sting is quite similar.

I first thought - wow, that is the cleanest, straightest, most even dock I have ever seen. Then I saw your mention of the gulls, so enjoy it now.
How deep is the water at the end - can you bring in anything with a keel?

Cheers,

Mike

Re: Gulls, there are cone shaped devices that go on top of the posts.  They seem to work.

Just a metal spike in the middle of each or an arrow shaped one would work and could look nice.  Down here they sometimes cut off the bottom of big plastic soda bottles and put them over the top, that works too but I don't think you'd appreciate the white trash look  lol   Maybe do that for now though.

Thanks everyone for the kind words.

Mike, I blew it out around the boat left and far side of the dock so I will have 7'MLW, but the channel is 5' MLW and there is usually a 3' tidal swing so wither I will have to time the tides (4 a day!) or will get a retractable keel.  Still deciding on what sail to get.  I charted a 26' Seaward with the retractable keel, very stable in both light and heavy wind and very true.  I was also thinking of the workhorse Catalina 22 with retractable center keel or a Rhodes 22.  Really don't like in general how swing keel feels on leeward side.  Anyway, may just get a 18' daysailer.  Clearly undecided in this matter.

Thanks for the dock suggestions, i have seen the black caps, but I was thinking of solar light latterns.  The new ones come with more LEDs so it will actually illuminate a small area, but that will add up quick with 32 posts!!!!  My fear is the gulls will still poop all over the small solar collectors!!
