Tuber dividing question
« on: July 28, 2008, 08:42:02 AM »
I was dividing lilies this morning to trade with some fellow forum members.

I have 2 yellow hardies.  To divide this time of year I just use a knife and cut off a tuber with a bud or two usually and add osmocote and more dirt back to the pot and return to the tank.  This morning when I decided where to make my cut on one of the yellows the tuber looked differant.  I made a decision and after I had removed the tuber, it was cut crosswise of the tuber.  Did I make a big boo-boo with this division?  I know I've seen an article somewhere about another type of hardy but I can't remember.

I believe as long as the roots are intact with the crown it is fine.  Everyone is always saying hardies are difficult to disturb, but I know how to make the impossible happen.
