I am just a pond  hobbyist who lives in Missouri. We have summers when we have 100* with a heat index of 112*-115*. We have had those temps this year. I have some of Craigs moptops and I have not had any trouble with them burning either. Not this year or last year when we had days of 100*. I don't over fertilize. I use garden dirt. And I just enjoy my lilies. I am glad to see Craig posting again

I have barely any experience with tropicals but I did have a King of Siam one summer.
We don't have particularly hot temps here nor much sunshine so it only bloomed once and that one bloom did burn on the first day which I thought odd since we just aren't very hot here. It didn't fully open and I didn't take a photo of it. I did decide not to try that one again but didn't think badly of it or it's hybridizer, just a personal choice.

Perry's Baby Red has burned this year during some heat spells that came out of nowhere. It is by far, my best bloomer so I'll forgive it. Going from 65* to 95* overnight burned half my garden too.

It's good to see you posting Craig.  You have been missed.  Did you see the pics of your lilies down in Merida?  I hope you enjoyed that.

Hello Jonna, I did see the pictures from Merida,  it was fun to see the lilies growing so well.  I was in Richmond, VA recently at a symposium and ran into Porfirio, one of the organizers of the park and he is insisting the next visit be in Merida....so maybe someday I'll darken your doorstep.<g>

The 'perfect flower' was botanical humor, Marie.<g>  All flowers that have both an androecium ( boy parts) and gynoecium ( need I say?<g>) are classified as "perfect".  Every definition I have read mentions that they must be present, but doesn't specify they must be fertile.

Hey Craig.

You probably don't remember me but we traded plants about 6 years ago or so.  Anyway, just wanted to say I love your lilies!  Keep up the good work!

That would be great if the symposium met in Merida.  Once our house is finished, hopefully sometime in November, you are welcome there.  When I get to the stage of getting lilies for the pond, I will go out to the aquaparque and see if I can meet Porfirio.  Or, maybe I'll just drop his name and see if I can get some cast off lilies  {:-P;;  Just kidding.
