Fish with Injury - What do I do?

My black Deutsy (sp??) has shown up with some kind of sore or injury on both the top of his mouth and on his back, right by the dorsal fin.

Either something tried but failed to eat him, or he was caught in something and scraped himself trying to get out.

Whichever way he got hurt, it is white around the outer edges and pinkish in the center, so it seems kinda bad.  Of course, he's dark and fast, so it's hard to get a good look at him.

Assuming I can catch him, what should I do?

i'm not real up to date with diseases but when i had sores on mine i looked it up on internet...type in fish diseases...i caught him and put him in a strong pond salt bath and bought some meds...can't remember the name but was in a blue and yellow bottle...go to petsmart or a pet store and describe...i know i'm not much help but mine cleared up...also may want to treat the whole bunch for 7-14 days....but put some pond salt in the pond also....they will have pics on the internet also and you can pick which it looks like ....good luck....lorraine :'(

Jules it's hard for anyone to tell you how to treat until they see a pix.
A salt bath won't hurt anything but you may need more than salt.

I currently have a fish with an ulcer and ordered Tri-Cide Neo.
Am QT with salt and will do the Tri-Cide Neo baths when it comes.

Julles, need photos.
Salt in the water at a medium level will retard infection.
But if you need serious intervention - antibiotics - we need photos.
Otherwise, most fish with minor injuries will recover if you just leave them alone. :)
