Passiflora Mollissima aka Banana Passion Fruit...
« on: October 12, 2006, 10:35:19 AM »
This Passiflora Mollissima (also known as P. tripartita) is one of a few I have started from seed that is finally blooming. I was able to cross pollinate one of the blooms with a tacsonia hybrid I also had blooming and it is beginning to set fruit.
I think this variety will provide tons of winter interest for me with our cool, but not freezing winters. The Tacsonia's are native to high mountainous regions where the climate is very much like a Vancouver winter. It will be nice to be able to enjoy a passionflower all winter when everything else has gone dormant.

Cheers,
Sean

Very unusually long stem on that flower from what I'm used to seeing.  I like the color.
